Kathy- thanks for the update. I am so glad you are feeling better. It's a scary thing to feel like you can't keep anything down. Every day will get better and better the more you take it easy. I'm glad to hear you can sip water- I bet this fill is going to be just fine once your swelling goes down.

Hang in there...

Megan

....I'llSucceed.....I just had a "re" fill thursday (see my thread in FILLS section) and it's getting easier....i've heard too that it's a little swollen afterwards....like after the surgery....but then about 5-6 days later it's much better....I am eating and drinking ok....but have to avoid the really solid foods or just chew chew chew.....i just need to slow down....but it DOES get better as you said.....you've been paying attention!!! ;) see you wednesday!!!

Kathy please tell us how you are later today. I have to say that sounds like an extremely hard weekend to go through. BUT I heard in our support groups that fills sometimes take several days to get used to the renewed tightness. That they even have a little more give days later. Those that had them decreased where less happy weeks later than those whom toughed it out while they adjusted. I think the warm liquids is the best advise given thus far & I just bet you'll be doing much better by Sunday nite/Monday morn. Of course if its unbearable there should be a doc on call from the office to help. Occupy your weekend as much as possible, it will fly by:cool:

Hi eveyone, Sunday did not go well for me. I was still sipping my Water and sipping my Soup. When I tried to go to bed Sunday night I couldn't lay down with out stuff backing up my throat and I felt like I was going to drown. I called the Dr. yesterday he had me come in and was going to remove some of my fill. Well that didn't go well either. There was no one in xray and he tried and tried to get to my port but couldn't. So I go back again today. He gave me some meds to try and help with the backup. It did help some but most of what goes down wants to come back up. So today at 1:30 some of my new fill is coming out. I can't wait for some relief. The bright side to all this is that I am down 6 more pounds. I hit the 220's not a good way to do it but I guess it will have to work. Just really want some relief starting to feel weak from all this. Thanks for all your concern and advise it really helped me through a ruff weekend. I will keep you all posted.

Thanks Kathy

Kathy, good luck! Getting a slight unfill should help you be able to eat the healthy Proteins and solids we're supposed to eat. This will help you be able to continue losing weight.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
