I made the ricotta bake. It was hands down the best thing I’ve eaten in weeks. Melty cheese, bubbly cheese, so. much. cheese. I portioned out my 2 ounces, happily ate it, and thought “a little more won’t hurt.” I ate maybe another 1.5 ounces. That 1.5 ounces is still sitting in my throat 30 minutes later. I am miserable. I can’t decide if I should try and make myself sick or just sit quietly and suffer.

I know I shouldn’t be beating myself up, but I’m screaming at myself inside. Why did I do this? I knew exactly what was going to happen, but it didn’t deter me. I know it’s only been a few weeks since my surgery and my mentality won’t change overnight, but it’s scary to see how self-destructive I am.

Tell me I’m not the only one who’s gone through this? I need a little pep talk.

Of course you're not the only one to go through this. I bet you'd find the vast majority of us on this board have made a bad choice or three pre or post surgery.

Beating yourself up feels pretty good sometimes, right? Do you know what feels better all the time? Being your own best friend. What if you tried that instead?

At first I was so good about everything. Now a year out I am having problems with control of what I eat. Just try to stay on track and you will do fine. As long as it is not a constant thing. Good luck.

This was a learning experience. No reason to beat yourself up. I’m sure your body is talking back loudly to tell you your limits. Give yourself a hug.

I can’t wait to make that stuff. Sorry for your misery, hope it passed quickly.

there is a reason that this surgery works! And that is because of the "punishment part". I'm a firm believer that people are successful because they are fearful of feeling like you did, or because they made a mistake or two and don't ever want to feel that again.

It is normal. Happens all the time, people post about it on here all the time. Don’t make a habit of it and learn from it and move forward.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
