December Bypass Surgery People- Check In!

Recommended Posts

Check in, share our successes!

Overall doing well, although I’m still worried I’m eating too much volume (ie 4 oz ground turkey looks like a lot to eat but I can no problem for a meal.

Super happy with results so far but notice a slowing now. Need to exercise more :)

Check in people!

Hello,

My surgery was Dec. 13 and I’m down 57 pounds. It’s been really rough for me. I had a leak and almost died and I’m still recovering. I’m improving little by little, very slowly.

My weight loss has been good, and I’m really happy with it. I’ve just hit my first stall, but I know to just keep working on it and it will eventually pass.

It's coming. Just be patient and trust the process. I struggle with being impatient a lot of the times and I have to remind myself to relax and let the surgery work. Only 3 months out. It'll crank up in no time.

Hey guys!

I too am a bit over three months out now. Weight loss is definitely starting to slow down here too. I can eat more than I thought I would be able to....4 ounces of ground chicken or turkey, a cup of Soup or chili goes down well, I tolerate salad very well too. I am not tolerating whole chicken unless shredded. So am not going to try steak or pork yet.

My post op visit is the 21st with the surgeon. Was hoping to be under 300, not going to make it. I guess I’ll see what he says about my progress.

I’m trying to be pleased about it. It’s frustrating when you still have another 100 to lose, but focusing on moving forwards instead of dwelling on the past is more important. I’m losing about three pounds a week, sometimes zero, sometimes five or six so it all averages out.

My biggest supporter in this is my twin and she is super proud of me and how well I’m doing so far.

Its time to focus more on activity now I’ve gotten some weight off I’m more mobile and can move better.

Love hearing updates from all you December peeps!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
