Calee213 0 Posted March 9, 2018 Hi everyone, I'm New to BariatricPal but many posts have been very helpful throughout my short journey. I can't wait to continue being motivated by reading about everyone else's struggles similar to mine and success stories I aspire to accomplish. Best of luck to all! So today is my 10th day post op, & had an appointment with my NUT i was hoping she'd say I was good for mushy foods because I was so sick of Protein Shake at this point. 2 weeks pre op & 10 days post op liquid diet. Turns out she did give me the go ahead and I went home for some Beans and low fat melted cheese... First, the cheese didn't melt all the way (gross) almost like imitation cheese. Second, the moment I ate the first baby spoon I immediately had gas like lil burp bubbles coming up. It continued for the whole 1st ounce and the 1/2 ounce after that was fine but I did have a slight stomach ache afterwards that took me to the restroom. I'm a lil scared it might have been too soon to go off liquids, I'm so sick of Protein Shakes and was looking forward to some kind of food other than broth. How was your first experience??? Should I hold off on trying again or is this a normal reaction?
Sadiebug 206 Posted March 9, 2018 My experience was very similar. My first mushy food was mashed potatoes (in the hospital - my program starts mushy very quickly) and I felt nauseous and weird. Eating very slow and tiny little bites were key - like smaller than you can even imagine. Also, walking around right after I ate every time helped a lot. I found for the first couple of months every time I tried a new food I would feel a little nauseous but then the next time with that food I would be completely fine. Just keep mixing it up and trying. Maybe try the Beans without the cheese or something different like yogurt or cottage cheese (depending on what your program allows). Also - if you spray low fat cheese with a tiny bit of cooking spray it will help it melt better 2 MrsGamgee and FluffyChix reacted to this
BostonWLKC 807 Posted March 11, 2018 Maybe the Beans were too ridged - try something more smooth like yogurt or cottage cheeseFor me, it was the same and each day got easier but I started off with small amounts and increased daily trying to get myself acclimated to solids again HW 242, SW 236- (Bypass 12/20/17)GW#1- 199 [emoji736] (2/11/18)GW#2- 175CW 1905’6” 1 FluffyChix reacted to this
