Ever not believe the scale?

Recommended Posts

First let me say it is really early here and I haven't had coffee yet so sorry for any spelling/grammar errors.

So I got on the scale this morning to weigh (I now only weigh on Monday mornings). I had felt fat and bloated all week. I also felt like I ate way too much (with the whole no restriction/wanting a fill thing). Anyway it says I lost 5lbs.

Now I should be excited but I'm not.

1. If I am losing weight does this mean I won't get a fill on my doctors appt this week. This makes me sad, because I want one. I liked not being able to eat very much. (okay I know if I am losing weight I am being healthy, but I can still be dissapointed).

2. Has my scale malfunctioned. I had a doctors appt with my family doctor and it said I gained weight. I brushed it off to differences in scales, but maybe my scale is malfunctioning.

3. I had in my mind that at this weight a pair of pants would fit-- I rushed to try them on--still to tight. Does that give more support to #2.

4. If I can be so damned stubborn about refusing to believe a weight loss then why if the scale goes up a pound or too why can't I have this same attitude.

If anyone made it through my ramblings--Thanks. I just needed to vent. Have a great day everyone.

Elizabeth

If you want a fill, wear a sweater or sweatshirt w/ big pockets and put a few rolls of quarters in your pockets. Or wear heavy shoes like doc martens or something. Figure out a way to make yourself heavier. I don't understand these doctors that take your $ for the surgery and then refuse to give you a fill. I would throw a fit and demand one. You've paid for it. I think that's BS. You had this surgery so you wouldn't have to be miserable and starving all the time in order to be able to lose weight.

My doctor lets me decide if I need a fill or not. What I can say is that it is very weird to see the scale go down instead of up. I think that with our history of the scale moving in the wrong direction, it is hard to see the scale move down.

I think my scale and my doc's scale are conspiring against me. Both say I have either stayed the same or have gained.

Just bummed. Had a fill last week and don't feel any restriction.

They should still give you a fill. Mr dr shows me a chart and asks questions like "are you hungry?" "Do you snack in between meals" "how much food can you eat" to determine if I need a fill or not. I lost 15 lbs by the time I went for my 1st fill and they really filled me on my first fill.

Maybe you should get a new scale? I have a health-o-meter slide scale, just like in the dr office so I know it is very accurate.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
