I should have my surgery right around the time I turn 30 which is in June. Didn't get a date yet. Still doing a the classes and testing required by insurance.

congrats!! i’m hoping for june/july as well. i have to attend 2 more group meetings and be approved by insurance (which luckily won’t be a problem given my CW/history/and the fact i’m under my mom’s insurance (blue cross)

I’m hoping for a date the end of April so I can at least enjoy spring break with my children. I’m 27 years old and I’ve been up and down with my weight my whole life and I’m over it. I just want to have a healthy life for not only myself but my children also. So now I’m just playing the waiting game with my insurance company

Yeah i totally get that. I nanny for an amazing family and the kids are 6 and 4 and i just want to be able to keep up with them and be healthy. and everyone i ever talked to about surgery said their one regret was that they didn’t do it when they were younger. so i figured why the heck not, what’s stopping me!

Just set up my psych consult yay

Sent from my SM-T380 using BariatricPal mobile app

woooo!! i regularly see a therapist so the psych consult wasn’t as scary for me going in. just the usual questions and making sure you want to do it for the right reasons.

also, not sure if it was just the lady i saw, but the psych team tends to read you the riot act if you’re a pot smoker. i got really upset about how the doctor treated me when we talked about it, but i was comforted by the dietician and the surgeon (who both didn’t really care about the fact i smoke, just obviously can’t right before/after surgery). funnily enough, the dietician was telling me about different strains to get that won’t cause hunger which i thought was pretty cool!
not sure if you smoke or anything but mentioning the psych consult made me think of this and perhaps it’s useful to others so i thought i would share

I just started myself, just finished my first doctor visit of 3. I have my endoscopy scheduled, working on getting psych scheduled, my nut appointment is next week, then I have a few more tests and I'm ready to submit. They are leaning toward a June surgery date. Oh I'm 24, hopefully I have surgery before my birthday in June and I live in florida

hi! i’m new to this. i just had my consultation appointment yesterday and am beginning the process of insurance approval and dates etc. i’m hoping i can be scheduled for surgery late june/early july. i’m about to be 22 so definitely interested in finding other young people to talk to about surgery and the whole process (pre and post op)
CW: 345
HW: 358
GW: 200
(yikes this is my first time posting stats anywhere. wild)
also more about me- been obese my entire life (literally from age 5), have **** genetics on both sides of my family, have mild binge eating disorder (which is under control), PCOS, general anxiety/depression
and fun stuff- i’ll be getting a degree in interior architecture and design in may, i’m about to start grad school right after that, i live in the boston area, i love art in all forms, live music, my friends, my dogs and my weed [emoji14]

I'll be turning 21 on Tuesday. I had the sleeve done 12/11/17 so I'll be 3 months post op tomorrow! It's an amazing thing. I was the same, I have crappy genetics for weight issues, diabetes, thyroid issues, ect. I have also been overweight my whole life. I don't know skinny, I've never been that way, so it'll be an exciting journey! We're pretty close in stats. My highest was 355lbs, day of surgery I was 321lbs, and as of last Friday I was down to 272lbs. So 49lbs in the 3 months. It's a great tool, you'll still obviously have to put in the work! I workout 5 days a week (4 in the gym, 1 on my 12hour clinical for school). But I'm sure you'll do great! There's so many things I've missed out on that friends have always done and now I'm able to.. Good luck on your journey! Let me know if you have any questions!

I am not in my 20s, but 33. I am hoping to have my DS the very end of May or beginning of June. My insurance only requires an endoscopy and a psych evaluation for approval. Well other than a high bmi. I wanted to do it while my oldest kids are home for the summer. To help out with my 18month old. I have my endoscopy scheduled for the 28th of this month.

I'm 31, gonna be 32 in June, and I'm hoping for my surgery end of May. I started my whole process back in September, but my insurance requires 6 months of nutrition phone call appointments. I have my final call this Wednesday so I'm going to get my surgery date as soon as insurance approves!

thanks so much for replying! i’m super excited to start the journey and what you said is perfect. i’ve always wanted to be able to “keep up” with my friends so to speak so i’m beyond excited for that. i mean i have a pretty good social life but there’s things i won’t do out of self consciousness or things i worry about like weight limits that my friends don’t worry about and i want to be like that

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
