redhead_che 824 Posted March 10, 2018 I must be a total wuss I took advantage of the IV pain meds (I think it was morphine/toradol?) But after I discharged I only had to take a hydrocodone like, twice. It got a LOT better the more I moved around at home. 1 ElseeG reacted to this
logicwand 269 Posted March 10, 2018 I had morphine in my IV too. Didn't ask for it, they just put it in there! lol. I was sent home with Tylenol liquid with codeine. I'd say the pain was about a 5 for me. I didn't feel the need to take the Tylenol when I got home. It's really hard to believe part of your organ is missing and you're not in that much pain. 1 ElseeG reacted to this
GotProlactinoma 458 Posted March 11, 2018 I got liquid opiates (don’t remember what, like codeine or something) for post surgery, but I think I only needed it for like 3 days. The pain was manageable, after that, maybe like a 3 when you aren’t moving and a 5 when you were trying to move or do something. Even the walking didn’t cause any sharp pains, and sometimes dull pain or tenderness is preferable to being drugged. I was prepared to take the opiate as much as I needed, but I really didn’t need it much. (Can’t speak to the first 3 days, in the hotel, I really don’t remember much. But the drugs helped.) 1 atphiladephia reacted to this
atphiladephia 67 Posted March 11, 2018 They gave me dilauded immediately after surgery and I hated it. I didn’t want anymore and they didn’t give me anymore. They gave me some intravenous version of ibuprofren that went right to the bloodstream rather than the stomach. I was pretty comfortable with mild, expected discomfort when I sat up, got out of bed or used my stomach muscles. Walking was easy and much needed. I slept fine. When they released me Day two I took Tylenol every 6 hours for 24 hours and I never looked back. Slept in my normal bed and was moving pretty easily. Good luck!
