This is a hard time - things do change, so try and just do one day at a time.

You have lost 27lbs? Amazing! Be proud.

My tastebuds changed, and many of us are surprised how much we can eat. This changes a bit, too. My RNY feels tighter now than 6 weeks ago.

Just stick to your plan - mostly, it slowly comes to a good place.

And did I ask - 27lbs in a month?!!

So lemme ask you? What are you eating.

And then the bi*chy part. Just because you CAN eat way more than you're supposed to, doesn't mean you SHOULD eat way more than you're supposed to...

You know? It is up to each one of us to follow our surgeon's rules to the letter of the law, or as closely as we understand them. Right? If it says at 1 month, you're supposed to be eating 1/4c of food 6 times a day...then make it so! :(

I don't have feelings of satiety right now either at only 2 weeks. None of us will. We just have to blindly try our hardest to process the information they give and follow it.

Once you start eating dense Protein first, not drinking before or after meals, etc, and kicking carbs to the very end IF you have room, you will start feeling restriction. Swearsies.

And in the meantime, 27 fu*king pounds in 1 month is incredible. Makes me want to cut a bit*h. LOL.

Deep congratulations to you on 27lbs!!!! That's amazing and outstanding. Are you overjoyed?

(Sorry for the newbie-splaining. :( Newbie splaining=When a new post-op baripatient tries to give advice to anyone as if they know what the fu*k is going on.)

Ugh 27lbs in one month is great. I am 28days post RNY and have lost 18lbs. I really wish I could swap weight loss success with you right now, but I feel great and I am not gaining and doing what I am suppose to as best as I can. Best of luck! Keep at it!

Ok, so not trying to be a b***h but really?! I thought this was a place to get help and see if anyone else is going through what we are. Everyone's journey is completely different. I am eating exactly as instructed by my surgeon. I log my food as if I would die without doing it. My doctor is just as baffled as I am. I eat as much as they instruct but my concern WAS why am I always hungry etc. I will explain more in my update on this thread.

Good luck in your continued journey but also remember to be kind

Thank you to those that are supportive in your words. This is the first topic I have posted and honestly I hesitated to post it because I didnt want to discourage anyone from getting the surgery (since there are some that have not had the surgery yet). But I was hoping for constructive information.

I am having to learn how to eat all over again. I had a Lapband put in on Feb 2011 and recently had several complications with it. My stomach is much bigger now than what it was because of what was going on with my band. Yes I have lost 27.2 pounds but that was as of January 24th. I have not lost 1 pound since then. I am eating exactly as my surgeon suggested. I have joined several blogs to see what others are eating but my problem has been that I never get "full". I eat as much as directed but still feel extremely hungry. I have somehow developed a sensitivity to dairy which I never had so it is hard to get most Liquid Protein options in without instantly needing to run to the bathroom. My taste buds have been strange since as well. I have spoke to and seen my surgeon several times to address my concerns but he and I are not quite sure what is going on. I work 2 jobs, averaging 16 hours a day. One is extremely active. So I am not just sitting around eating all day. I am doing everything possible to better myself mentally and physically but nothing has happened.

Truthfully I regret posting this whole topic. Right now I am very discouraged, depressed and sad and thought this would be a good place to see how everyone else is doing but I was wrong. Thank you for the lecture from one of you. Much support should be given here.

I hope to find out how to delete this topic as its a set back for me. Can anyone tell me how to delete it? Or can I just delete my profile and it go away??

Have they done another EGD on you? Maybe just maybe what you're feeling is gastritis, perhaps something to with your remaining stomach. Did you have a sleeve? sometimes they can do a sleeve reduction. They would go down with a smaller gauge tube and retighten things up. Somebody else had it done recently on BP. Did you have a bypass of some sort? If you did it might be another problem.Really sounds like your hunger hormone started back up. You might have an anomoly location in remaining stomach. It is puzzling.

My questions were not directed to make you feel bad. You ask VERY important questions and need information but you give very little information about yourself, your surgery, your diet. How far out you are from surgery. So it's like asking us to have a crystal ball to give you very specific advice.

The first part of my response to you was a reminder. Not a shaming statement. Someone makes it to me to remind me and I find it super helpful! The ONLY way I know that I'm not eating too much right now, is because I use the exact volume or weight given by my surgeon for this time in my diet. Do I want more? Oh sure!!! I do. LOL. I am not yet able to feel satiety.

And, you don't mention your diet, but I can guarantee you that if I'm eating high carb foods, or drinking while eating, I will be hungry less than 2 hours later! Fo' shizzle. But if I only eat my Protein, and maybe a bite (tiny bite) of a very well cooked veg, and a tiny bit of healthy fat, I am cool for about 3 hours. And that's only eating 1/4c of food per meal! LOL.

Protein Drinks do give me satiety. But for many, they do not! You know? Yogurt barely gives me satiety, but if I add low fat cottage cheese, then it keeps me for 3 hours, even at less than 1/2 c total volume. (I can have up to 1/2c of yogurt at this point.)

So, THAT's why I responded as I did. To get more information from you, so we can possibly even stab at giving you AWESOME helpful advice. It was never meant to shame you!

Sorry. And hope you stick around and keep fighting to win your surgery!

If I eat slider foods, which I assure you even at 2 weeks I "could" theoretically do, they will wizz right past my new anatomy and go directly to my hips without passing go!

My surgery date is 3/19 but I just wanted to give you a virtual "hug". As a pre-op I don't have much advice! But I'm sorry you're having a hard time.

Are you able to eat solid Proteins yet like chicken and beef? I know for me I was hungry on the liquids and the Soups and felt like I could eat too much but once I started eating meats it was amazing at how fast I got full after only a few bites. Hope things get better for you.

I’m experiencing the exact same thing. Totally hungry all the time and feel like I may be eating too much? Im just gonna give it some time. See how this continues to play out. From reading so many others’ posts, seems like the journey has a lot of twists and turns. Hang in there kiddo!

Please don’t go. One person opinion isn’t the the whole group. I had gastric bypass surgery on December 18, 2017, I still home about 3 weeks before going out, and to let my body heal, may I ask how long did you return back working your 16hrs work day, I’m sorry for your many complications dealing with that lapband, I am on a 850 cal a day. Still no rice, Pasta, sweet, potato, bread, soda. I’m on a high Protein low car Diet . I like watermelon, if my food is highly spicy, because of no Water 30 minutes before and after. How is your bm, I didn’t have one for 5days and when I did that’s when I weighed my self, look like I loss 5 lbs, are you tell your dr about your bowel move, I’m no doctor but the swelling in your stomach have me worried, and some of us couldn’t take milk products after surgery, but in time we did. This life change will are doing is to better are life, listening to your own body. We here on BariatricPal are here to help one another. I have been here 4 months before my surgery and still here, this is a place to get information about you and other are going through this journey we can’t walk it alone so please stay.

I didn't know it's offensive to ask someone what their eating. When they post asking for help I actually think why are you asking for help with giving absolutely no detail . You may eat as your doctor suggested but perhaps if you posted your food someone msy notice something that may benifit from being adjusted or moved around. That is why people ask what you eat.

@dreamingsmall Thank you. This was exactly it. I meant no disrespect. I also was giving her the advice given to me from so many of the vets here which has REALLY and truly helped me get my head in the game: "Just because you "can" eat, doesn't mean you "should" eat "fill in precise quantity as it applies to you". You know?

But it's so very difficult to give any kind of practical help when we don't even have a profile filled out or any background information to go on! :(

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
