Newbie :) surgery date 5/10/18

Recommended Posts

Mine is May 14th. I’m excited and nervous. I’m lucky to have the support of my parents and a few close friends. My oldest brother and his wife aren’t very supportive of it but really it doesn’t matter as I’m doing this for me and it’s something I need. I’m glad there are some people close to the same date as me.

May 2 and it can't come soon enough!! We can wait patiently together [emoji3]

Sounds great. The wait is slowly killing me but with buddies it will be better!

Congrats on getting your surgery date. I'm still working on getting mine because I have to have back surgery first. Places like this is a great place to get support. If you need anything just ask I'm having revision surgery done once I get to have it. I've had the lap band for 8 years now and have had some problems with it. All surgeries dangerous or have risk but you just have to face them head on. Hang in there you will do great.

Oh my... I have heard a lot of people having issues with the band and then they get it taken out and get VSG. I'm sorry you are having problems with your band and your back and hopefully these surgery help you better hun! Yes I agree all surgeries have there risk but being unhealthy is worse in my eyes and I just wish some people would understand that.
Thank you so much for your encouraging words!

Yay!! Surgery buddy. I'm glad you have a great support group. Those who aren't supportive dont understand because they aren't in our shoes. I'm excited for your surgery date!

Hello everyone, my name is Lisa and I'm a 24 year old nursing student. I was recently scheduled for the sleeve surgery for May 10th. Excited but wish it was sooner. I start my 11 day cleanse April 29th. Does anyone have their surgery for May?? Would love to share this journey with you all. I don't have much of a support group because they think its a dangerous surgery. My doctor told me support is a major key for a successful operation and joining this site is a motivation for me.

That's my birthday! Good luck, you will do great! I go in on Monday and I can't wait. It's the start of a new life. And it will definitely help your career. I have a B.S in biology and I plan to move on to my PhD in the next 2ish years. I work in research right now and every day I feel like my skills and knowledge are belittled because of my weight. I can't wait to be able to progress and excel in my field of work, and not let the weight be the first thing people notice.
Sorry for the rant! I just feel like most people in the science/healthcare field get this!

Hello,

My date is 5/23. I'm terrified and excited. I know I need this but I'm also a worse case scenario thinker so it's rough. Good luck to everyone and can't wait for updates :-)

I'm the same way. My anxieties have me thinking every negative thought possible. Lol at least we can stress together lol

Isn't it sad the world looks upon the package and not the contents?

From one belittled Mensa who plans to be little to another. God Bless and keep you safe. I hope you'll continue to be a poster here.May your March be a good month of change, April a month of progress & May, your birthday month, one of triumph and joy.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
