It's been 11 long months and... I got my letter from insurance today! I'm so excited and nervous but I have been waiting for so long. Now that it's real and going to happen a little over two weeks OMG YAY! I have watched hundreds of videos, read even more blogs/posts and now I feel like I need to get everything this week... So with that being said, I could use some guidance...

Let me know what you took to the hospital or how you prepared yourself after finding out you got approved (or just anything you think would be helpful) :D

There are multiple postings about this subject on this web site. I could Tell you what I plan to take. Chapstick, you will be as dry as Death Valley and your lips might crack. Mine probably will anyway I have a habit of chewing them or licking excessively when I feel stressed. Biotene, it's a mouth moisturizer. Phone, charger and maybe tablet. The same charger works on both of them. Jammie bottoms or fleece pants, you tend to wear their gowns on your upper half because of tubes, wires or IV. Also I don't want them breaking out into a chorus of Moon over Miami every time I go sauntering by. My Bari Bear, I need a little friend to "splint" my sore little tummy when I sneeze or cough. I'm sure I will because I have asthma, I remember when I had my gallbladder out in the bad old days when everything was open incisions, I took Chickie, one of my kid's stuffed pillow friends, I even walked around clutching him to my sore abdomen. Most people had subcostal incisions, right under their right ribcage, well not me. I have a right paramedisn, 5 inch scar starting 2 inches above my belly button and going 3 inches below. My father the year before had abdominal surgery, he had what is called an arterioveinos malformation, There weren't capillaries between the arteries and veins in a portion of his colon, kept breaking open and he was bleeding from there. Lost about 6 inches of bowel. So my surgeon wanted to make sure I hadn't inherited it so he opened me up that way and also took, out my appendix. Some comfortable slippers, although one person on here bought cheap ones and threw them away before she went home. books, a few paperbacks I haven't read. Soap because I have sensitive skin. That's pretty much it.

Chance you were pretty both ways but I bet you're proud of the picture on the right. How high was your weight prior to surgery? I'm currently 323 down from 355, my dream is to be a 15-16 from the 26W I am now.

Dang that's right around the old corner. Mine's on March 12th. They tell you bring comfortable, lose fitting clothing. I hate those hospital gowns to I am going to pack two pair of sweats and some tees.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
