Having a lot of gas pain

Recommended Posts

I recently had my gastric sleeve surgery on the 28th of February. I am hurting a bit but I think the storm we had last night made the pain even more severe can anyone tell me something on this. Also I should I still be having pain which is causing me not to be able to do as much or should I just keep resting and walking as much as possible. Right now I feel useless😢

I was sleeved on the 28th too walking definitely helps with the gas but since you’re still feeling out of it I’d try some medicine. Everybody swears by GasX strips but I wasn’t able to get my hands on any pre-op but what I did get was infant gas drops which worked wonderfully for me on my first day in the hospital when pain and nausea didn’t allow me to get much walking in.

Hello, I had my sleeve on the 1st and was wondering how long does the gas take to leave I think I still have pains ever so often it’s like a rolling little pain inside

I was sleeved on the first too and still get gas pains but gas x strips have been a big help on taking the edge off.

Try using a heating pad too especially if you are getting it on your back or shoulders. I did and still do occasionally but heating pad helps a great deal too.

In addition to walking and gas x, laying on your left side also helps. Feel better soon!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
