frust8 963 Posted March 24, 2018 Are your plans still moving forward.? You'll be entering your 4th month soon, time is really going to move fast for you now. Do you have any other pre-requirements still staring you in your face this month or April? Have you been given a tentative sur, gery date yet? Maybe July?[emoji13][emoji322]Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app 2 frust8 and clsumrall reacted to this

Down 11 pounds since first appt in 1/12/18 have to loose 25 pounds by June before I see surgeon. I use to be able to loose 10-15 pounds a month no problem but now since I’m on Cymbalta for fibromyalgia and have infusions every 28 days ( over a 2 day period) I gain 6-8 pounds then takes me about 10 days to loose it. I’m FRUSTRATED
frust8 963 Posted March 25, 2018 You are going to make it through but I agree it is FRUSTRATING to the inth degree. One of the things about us as Americans of a Certain Age we all say"Lord give me patience and give it to me right now so I can enjoy it!" although we have years left ,its a shame we don't get credit for "time served" in life! Maybe lost 2 more pounds, my body is happy at this point but I'm not satisfied.[emoji14] Hey have any more of us had surgery on March?Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app 1 clsumrall reacted to this

cbf 42 Posted March 26, 2018 Hi, I began my journey 11/15 when I was 63. My insurance wouldn't cover the surgery. Now I'm 65 and on Medicare with supplemental insurance. I've been approved for the surgery twice, once was last June, 2017 but still couldn't get through insurance. I'm having to begin the whole process again now. Meeting with nutritionist and psychologist on Friday 3/9/18. Re-visit with surgeon 3/21/18. I'm told I'll have the surgery about 5 weeks after that. I know I need to do this because my MANY attempts at weight loss on my own keep failing. I go 2-3 weeks eating good and walking, usually lose 12-20 pounds. At a certain point I'm STARVED though and can never get beyond that point. I am afraid of the surgery because of my age, the anesthesia (we had a dog die from anesthesia) and because I'm not in good overall shape. I do walk but it's getting harder and harder. I don't have much energy (weight/age/health). I'm also afraid not to have the surgery! Knowing my health can and probably will continue on a downward spiral if I don't. I feel I have to do this in order to save and extend my life but also know that the process will be much harder because of my age and post menopausal metabolism. My other big concern is Constipation after the surgery. I have a problem with it already due to having to take an Iron supplement. So, GSierraGold, I'm sharing my experiences so far and letting you know you aren't alone. Hi, I’m 69 and have a date for April 12th. Don’t be afraid of the anesthesia it’s much better today. Long story but I had the surgery in January but it was aborted due to a large hiatal hernia. No problems. Then had sinus surgery in February with general anesthesia no problems. It’s normal to be scared as this is a big step but I’m doing it for my health and to prolong my life! 2 ProudGrammy and clsumrall reacted to this

HopefullXOXOXO 73 Posted March 26, 2018 I want to thank everyone for your thoughts and encouragement. I've been approved for the surgery and will get my surgery date this week. Probably early May because I have an important wedding on 4/29. Everything about this scares me but I know it must be done. I've proven many times I can't do this on my own. Along with the surgery date I'll be given a date to meet with nutritionist for pre-op diet instructions. None of this is easy for any of us and I appreciate any help I can get as I find my way through this process. cbf 42 Posted March 27, 2018 Best of luck Hopeful. Remember we’re all scared but we’re doing this to take charge of our bodies and our lives. The diet seems tough but by the third or fourth day I wasn’t hungry anymore. I was on a totally liquid diet for 2 weeks. This second time around I get one high Protein low carb meal a day! I hope nothing goes wrong this time and I actually get the sleeve. Don’t know what I’ll do if I wake up not sleeved again! One day at a time! Keep us up to date. 1 clsumrall reacted to this

The age thing was causing some concern; because some doctors (not specialist) say you should not get this operation after age 60. I’m proceeding full speed ahead. Thank you, again for your encouragement[emoji177]

cbf 42 Posted April 1, 2018 I agree! I am hoping that my diabetes will at minimum improve and at best be resolved. I am currently taking 3 different meds and an injection daily. I also have high cholesterol and fibromyalgia. Asthma as well. I have lost my energy and my mojo lol! I feel that this tool will put me in control of my life. I want to keep up with my 5 little grandchildren and have a longer and healthier life. We can do this! 2 Neon Star and GSierraGold reacted to this
