Almost a week out from surgery. How is everyone doing? I’m 5 day out feel good and I seem to be dropping a pound a day.

I'm nearly 3 weeks out and am pretty sure I've hit a stall. My first goal is to get under 200 lbs and I've been a pound over it for over a week. So frustrating! Is anyone else experiencing crazy head hunger?

Two weeks for me tomorrow, no head hunger yet but damn I want to CHEW. This liquids-only stuff is for the birds. I go see my nutritionist on Thursday and if I'm lucky she will let me move to purees and then I can transition to solids. Mainly I just need to CHEW something.

Also, diarrhea! Had it Saturday. Had it today at work. Not cool. But I am glad that I am pooping.

Good results everyone. Although I feel like I’m lagging since I’ve only lost 6 lbs. what’s the secret?

I’m probably not eating enough. I’m only getting about 550 calories/day and struggling to get that much in.

I have a nectar Protein Shake mixed with milk, Unjury chicken Soup, Premier Protein drinks and today I tried Okios triple zero vanilla yoghurt. Adding the yogurt (half a serving) boosted my calories to 650. No solid food or puréed food yet. Not feeling hungry at all.

Had the same feeling for the first few days or now when I take big sips.

I was sleeved on 2/28. I'm just starting to meet the Protein goal but the liquid goal I still come up short by about 10 to 20 ounces per day. Tomorrow is my first post-op visit to my surgeon, as well as the dietician. The pains inside have stopped but I've started to feel what I think are hunger pains. I'm not really sure though.

I had surgery 2/28 so I'm 5 days out. I was hungry leaving the hospital and have been hungry since! LOL I not only have the hunger pain, but I sometimes have pain on my right side after I swallow anything. In the beginning it was excruciating, but it has lessened. I am able to hold down everything I'm allowed: Water, sf popsicles, broth, yogurt, thin cream Soups, sf pudding, and my Protein Shakes. The first two days home I had trouble reaching my water goals for SURE. I only got in about 16 to 20 oz. But by day 3, I finally hit 32 oz. Today, I hit 40 oz. So I'm definitely making progress. I'm getting all my Protein from the protein shakes (with skim milk), Premier Protein Clear and yogurt which probably puts me right about 65-70 grams of protein a day. I'm relying on the shakes for my Vitamins as well. NUT said to begin Vitamin supplements on 3/7. I'm looking into getting some of the vitamin patches here on Bariatric Pal because it'd be one less thing to think about putting in my mouth! Today was my first day back at work and I was a little weak but I have a desk job. I wonder if the weakness is from a drastic calorie drop. I'm probably getting about 300 to 500 calories a day. (I also use Propel with electrolytes for my water goals, so I'm hoping my body appreciates that too.) I've been sleeping on my back which sucks because I'm a side sleeper but I don't want to mess my incisions up. They are a tad sore, but I have to really twist or hit a bump in the road to feel pain. They look good so far. I'm hoping the glue doesn't wear off too soon because I feel like I need the reinforcement for a good while! My one week post op is Thursday and hopefully I get a thumbs up from my doc.

Oh, and I'm down 7 pounds since the surgery.

Last night was my first meal a 1/4 of farina! Otherwise it’s been a slow starvation for the last 5 days of nothing but Water, ice pops and Jello for 5 days. What are you allowed to have?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
