I have PCOS, had the sleeve surgery and still NO PERIOD :-(

Recommended Posts

Ever since I had my first period at 15 yrs of age my period would last 1 sometimes up to 3 years to show up. I have no ovarian cysts but super irregular. No Dr has been able to tell me why I cannot get my period even when I was prescribed Provera to provoke my period. I finally decided to get the sleeve surgery as a way to possibly conceive before I turn 40. I was sleeved on 1/09/2018 and till' this day I've had no signs of my period. Anyone else have the same issue? I fear i may be infertile even though tests show otherwise.

Your advise it greatly appreciated!

I have PCOS as well and I was able to have a child. Everyone is different your body is still adjusting. It is a big adjustment. Also, your periods may be different then other people’s you may not even bleed heavily like everyone else is you may just be discharging or see brown spots that may be confused by urine (sorry TMI) but don’t stress. We live in modern times. There is always a way to have a child. Look at all your options and talk to your doctor about it. Remember our bodies are going through an adjustment period. Focus on the weighloss and succeeding. Once your journey has settled, revisit this topic. Let your body heal and if tests have confirmed you are fertile then you are fertile. Good luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
