And people are supposed to do what with that wealth of information?

If this is the typical post-op freak out it is typical to actually end up weighing more after surgery because of all the fluids you've been pumped up with.

It would be nice if you would have posted more than just "Weight Gain in 3 Days". That doesn't mean much to anyone. Are you pre-op or Post-op? what was your weight when you started, what is it now. What diet are you on?

I have been at the same weight for more than a month now. I have had sinus issues, on meds for that and I am sure they cause weight gain. I am off the meds now and the sinuses are mostly clear so I am hopeful I can start losing again. It can be a slow process, I have learned patience through all this.

I would recommend only weighing once a week (or even less frequent). Your weight can fluctuate a lot day to day due to Water, poo, food you eat, clothing you're wearing, hormones and a lot of other random stuff. Heck - my weight can easily be 3lbs higher morning vs. evening and the week of my period it's always around 4 lbs higher. It is next to impossible to actually gain 6 lbs of fat in 3 days. You would have had to eat almost 21,000 excess calories (1lb = 3500 calories). I would suggest picking one consistent day/time/location and clothes and do that same thing every week. Even with that I sometimes have weeks where I'm a little bit up but it always comes right back off a week or so later. Best of luck to you!

Exactly! Perfectly said. In fact, as gross as this is... I know I've lost 3lbs after I was backed up for a few days! I wouldn't be concerned unless you retain that 6lbs for more than a week or two.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
