Aworknprogress 35 Posted March 5, 2018 Gm all,so today is the day I'm scheduled for surgery at noon.Up until today I was hype and ready now im nervous as heck.Honestly what I'm most worried about is the anesthesia like going under. Also worried about how I'm going to feel pain wise after the fact.I'm not backing out or anything but I could use some encouragement 1 FluffyChix reacted to this
orionburn 1,024 Posted March 5, 2018 The anesthesia part is easy. I get being nervous, but you'll be just kind of chilling and then the next thing you know you're waking up. It really is like going to sleep at night and waking up in the morning. Unfortunately we're all different on the pain side of things. I was more blah because of the anesthesia than I was from the pain. I've been under a few times and my body really hates it for whatever reason. It may not be the best when you first wake up but focus on it being short term. It honestly does get better pretty quick. Just take your time, follow your instructions, and as everyone always says - walk, walk walk and sip, sip, sip! Good luck to you today and see you on the loser's bench! 3 FluffyChix, ready4change88 and Aworknprogress reacted to this
Apple203 1,314 Posted March 5, 2018 (edited) Anesthesia is very very safe these days. I know its quite nerve-wracking to wonder if you will be someone who breezes through it or has a few bad days at first -- I worry a LOT about that and I am over a week away! Either way, in a week you will have your feet on the ground and your new life begins!! Wishing you a safe surgery One thing for folks to think about: you can take an anti-anxiety (like Lorazepam) the morning of surgery with your surgeon's permission -- its not contradicted for surgery. FluffyChix 17,415 Posted March 5, 2018 (edited) Great tunes for being high on pre-anesthesia: Comfortably Numb - Pink Floyd Learning to Fly - Tom Petty Free Fallin' - Tom Petty Under Pressure - David Bowie & Freddie Mercury Magic Carpet Ride - Steppenwolf This Is The End - The Doors Go Ask Alice - Jefferson Airplane I could go on and on! You'll do great. Ask for a "mother's little helper" pill for anxiety! They have you as their Number 1 priority! They are focused 100% on YOU. You are very safe, coddled, cared for and they'll do damn near anything for you short of peelin' you a grape! Good luck!! Sosewsue61 3,185 Posted March 5, 2018 Good luck. Prayers for you and your surgical team. Yes, scopolamine patch is great for nausea. 1000mgr IV acetaminophen for pain is great. *Walk and sip, nap* repeat * *. We were all nervous, you will do fine. See you on the 'sleeved side'. 1 FluffyChix reacted to this
