Photo of stretched sleeve

I am pretty sure my sleeve looks like the one on the right already. I swear my sleeve was never small enough to begin with.

This is very interesting.

But, when anyone talks about a "stretched" sleeve, I immediately wonder what the person is eating and drinking. The fact is no matter what the size of your stomach is, a person can only eat and drink so many calories per day at his/her size to maintain or lose weight. That is a fact. There are so many people that treat these surgeries like they are a cure-all, and they ARE NOT. They never will be. People have to take responsibility for their eating habits and make some changes or they will end right back up where they started.

Yes, I suppose some "stretching" might happen, but, bottom line, people gain weight because of what they consume.

I don't think it's a case of not thinking it's possible but not as common as people think. It's the ones that fail to understand that slider foods are easier to eat and think that they've stretched out their sleeve in a matter of two days.

I'd be curious to hear more about your story should you be willing to share. Did they not remove enough of the stretchy part when you first had your surgery? If you stretched it was it never seriously painful or at least cause serious discomfort eating so much to stretch it? I freaking hate eating one or two bites too many and feeling blah for the next hour so it's a bit hard to imagine eating enough to truly stretch it out.

Well I was told by my surgeon the previous surgeon didn’t make it to tight. He wasn’t bashing the previous doctor but just making appoint that 5 years ago the doctors were more cautious because the procedure was kind of new! However now they are making them tighter. Truth is after my surgery this time the new doctor stated I had stretched my stomach almost back to its original size!!! Believe me I knew it because I was eating as much as non sleeved people and felt no restrictions

Absolutely I take full responsibility for stretching out my stomach! I made poor choices in year 3,4,5 and totally regret it! I did have some serious life issue come along the way but in the end it was all my fault! Just want people to know it can happen if your not careful. Measuring and tracking is vital!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
