What is your full feeling?

Recommended Posts

I have seen that many people are saying they are full after very little. Is your full feeling the same full feeling that you had prior to surgery? Does it feel different after? I'm at the point where I can finally eat things like chicken and some veggies..I didn't get that full feeling that I had before, I just stopped eating because I was afraid to over eat.. But didn't feel full. Especially since it was my first time eating chicken.

i"m 17 months post-op. To be honest, I have made it a policy to never eat until I am "full." I have always eaten specific amounts to meet specific calorie and macro quantities. Even at this point, a typical meal for me is 3 oz of dense Protein (chicken, beef, pork, salmon, etc.) and 1.5 oz of green vegetables. I repeat every 2 hours. (Save for Breakfast where I have 1 jumbo egg scrambled with 2 oz of chicken breast and 1 piece of bacon).

It’s not the same feeling for me as before. It feels as if the food has filled up my esophagus and if I have one more bite it’s gonna hurt. I also weighed everything until I was good enough to judge it by eye. That way I would know I was eating enough but wouldn’t overeat.

I measure everything, but when I’m very close to full I get a pain in my left shoulder and/or hiccup. I stop immediately when that happens, if I have a mouthful of food I spit it out. The difference between satisfied and painful for me can be a single bite. Afterwards I have a classic ‘full’ type of feeling.

It’s definitely different for me. I don’t get a full feeling ...I feel like the food sits in my throat (assume that’s food that isn’t in the stomach bc it’s full?? Dunno)

Either way- I always measure and just go with 3-4 ounces

I get full but not like before surgery. If I over eat something my nose runs and depending on what it is I salivate more and sometimes hiccup. I am about 15 months post op and can eat about 4 oz of meat...its weird though because one day I can only eat about half of hamburger and other days i can almost finish it. I am also one of the few that doesnt get pain when I drink carbonated drinks...such as ICE brand flavored water and once in while i have some coke or ginger ale

Well, I think I'm too soon post surgery to know really since you know, those nerves have been cut. So I'm measuring and weighing everything and going by that. But I will say, that something happens toward the bottom of my portion, and I end up leaving a bite or two there. It's an intuition. I call it my spidey senses. There is something that clicks over in my brain, despite having no physical cue that says, "Danger! Danger! Danger Will Robinson! Run Away! Run Away!"

So I push away from my meal and table, get up and clear my plate. Dunno. It's very weird.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
