I'm not sure how different yours will be, I have Molina in Florida. I have to have 3 months visits with my pcp showing they are for weight loss, an endoscopy, a sleep study, 1 nutrition appointment, a psychiatric eval, blood test, chest xrays and I think that's it.

yes, definitely have them note it that the appointment is strictly for weight loss so that way it counts towards your months just in case

Omg, Tina.. that’s awesome. Here in CT you’re required six months with documented nutritional logging, blood test, stress test, colonoscopy, endoscopy, psych evaluation, sleep study, two required support group visits, and at least 4-6 visits with a nutritionist

It’s going to feel like forever but I know it’ll be worth it in the end!

I’m in CT and have to do 7 nutrition appointments, had to do a sleep study, upper Endoscopy (coming up), cardiology clearance (coming up), psych evaluation (coming up), and blood work. I have 2 more nutrition appointments before my paperwork is submitted. Best wishes, it really does fly by! Oh and if you’re disabled I believe they said it’s a 3 month process

I wonder why it went up.. back in 2015 when I did the process it was only three visits to a nutritionist. Two group meetings and orientation was mandatory.

Thanks btw, you as well. This is by far one of the most needed tools in my life. My health depends on it (and my sister’s) she is going through this with me too.

Varies by insurance and surgeon. My friend did 6 months but didn’t have much testing to do aside from sleep study and the upper Endoscopy. And congrats to you and your sister on your journey!

oh wow that is a lot of stuff, but yes you are right it will be worth it in the end. Yours will fly by because you have a lot of stuff to do each month. I just sit around and wait until my next appointment with my pcp. They just scheduled me for my endoscopy for april 4. So I'm slowly making progress

I did my upper endoscopy yesterday. Aside from the IV needle in the hand, it was pretty painless. Also they are more than likely going to have you do a urine sample for pregnancy testing. The actual procedure is only 10-15 minutes but after they let you sleep off the anesthetic it’s about 45 minutes. Hope your barium swallow test went well today. And the nutrition appointments fly by pretty quickly [emoji846]

Thanks. I posted about my results in another post.. I actually have a hiatal hernia and am looking for a different doc because the one I have says he won’t touch anyone with a hiatal hernia. I learned that it’s actually common for someone who is over weight. Somewhat discouraged from hearing this diagnosis.. however I will continue to move forward and keep pushing towards my goal to better health.

I have a hernia too. Weird that your surgeon won't just fix it.... maybe it's best to get someone more confident. My doc said he'd fix mine during my bypass.

Sorry to hear that. I don’t have a hiatal hernia (thankfully). I don’t know where you are in CT but I’m sure there are other surgeons you can talk to. I was under the impression that most surgeons would fix it during your Bariatric procedure. Keep your head up, I’m sure you’ll find someone to accommodate you [emoji6]

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
