Rides after lap band

Recommended Posts

I have a question, I like to travel a lot and go to theme parks. Has anyone gone on thrill rides after being banded? How did it effect you? Anyone not able to go on rides afterward?

I was banded on 8/27/07 and just got back from Disney World and Universal Studios. I went on a ton of rides with no issue.

I was able to ride everything at Cedar Point. Best thing ever! Have fun and hang on tight, there is no longer a SNUG fit and you'll slide!! WOO HOOO!!!

It sounds like you guys did just fine! I am a thrill ride fanatic and I was a little worried that I wouldn't be able to go on any of them after being banded.

I was offered a free ticket to six flags this past saturday. I almost didn't go. I was scared to death I would not be able to fit on a couple rides. But I faced my fears and I fit everything I rode ! A couple were a lil snug but no biggie, that was a HUGE confidence boost!!

You know I think the confidence boost was the best part. I didn't have to do the "Check to see if you fit" thing before you go into the line or get to the top and do the "walk of shame" because I didn't fit. That truly was the best part. I hadn't been on a ride in 6 years because of my weight!

I went on one of those at a local fair that pins you up against the wall(centrifigal(spelling?)force). One month after surgary, it did not feel good. Lots of pressure on stomach.

I used to love thrill rides. Sadly, I haven't been on one in about 10 years at least. I took, as Boo puts it "The walk of Shame", and I was way too embarrassed by that to even ever try again. As I walked away, I heard some girl say out loud "How embarrassing..." Yeah, and you just made it that much worse, helloooo...

Anyway, I'm just wondering at which size were all of you when you first noticed that you were able to fit on the rides again. I'm curious because I would just love to get on one again, but I don't want to risk any undue embarrassement again.

Thanks!

The one that i was on didn't matter what size you were because nothing held you in but the force of the ride. I know exactly what you are talking about though. At Disney 5 years and a few pounds ago, I threatened to come back and find the person at the beginning of the line if I didn't fit on the ride after he said that i would. I rode most everything there. A few tight squeezes but no Walks of shame

Thank goodness. Now six flags was a different story, tried one roller coaster and walked right out the other side of it because no way was i gonna get into that seat. Didn't hang around long enough to see who all noticed. How long since you have been banded? Only a little over a month for me.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
