I am sooo happy! Today I went in for my surgeon consultation and he said “as far as I am concerned, you are at your goal weight”!! He said my liver feels good and he believes I would be a great candidate for VSG even with my history of GERD. He believes that it will

Improve with weight loss and If I have a Hiatal Hernia he will repair it so it will improve. That was my only concern with the sleeve. Other than that I completed my EKG, my Blood Work, and met with my case manager all in one day! So happy! My date is scheduled for March 28th! Kaiser Richmond. Yay!!

Congratulations, I am only 2 days post-op and the pain has been real but it's getting better gradually. Major regret hit on 1 day post-op but it's slowly dissipating now. I can already tell this will be the best decision I have made for myself. I tear up just thinking that I could be at my goal weight in a year, when I have never been normal weight in my entire life (chubby kid and all). WE CAN DO THIS!

That's awesome! I am going through Kaiser in Bakersfield. I have two classes left, already received my medical approval and just waiting to see the surgeon and get a date. They sure moved fast for you, I'm jealous :):) Did you have to take the Options classes?

No options classes, just 2 orientation classes, nutrition class, and Vitamin and Post Op class

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
