dthree123 3 Posted March 2, 2018 IS THIS NORMAL? I am now a week post-op and did perfectly fine on the Clear Liquids. the only nausea I've experienced has been from the initial pain medication which I've discontinued. I'm trying to switch over to an all liquid diet, but even one or two spoonfuls sends my stomach into a death spiral. I've tried low carb creamy Soup, Protein Shakes, and Greek yogurt, but just a couple ounces and I feel like someone set fireworks in my stomach. Is this normal? Do I just need to give it more time? I had no issue with the pre-op liquid diet and never feel hungry at all. Thanks! 1 logicwand reacted to this
Deevanh11 21 Posted March 2, 2018 Maybe something without dairy? Like fruit smoothie w Water? I’m still in the clear liquid state 3 days post op. Hope this helps
dthree123 3 Posted March 2, 2018 The Soup had no dairy...nothing helps. I'm back on just Vitamin Water, but I've been on liquids for nearly a month and am really looking forward to mashed potatoes and baby food!!!
P2p 1 Posted March 2, 2018 I'm new to the forum. My surgery date was the day before yours so I'm just over a week out, too. I have not experienced that. Everything has gone so well that it's scary. Eat what you can tolerate. Stick to the liquids. Two tablespoons may be too much right now. Blessings and good luck everyone. I'm excited about this journey! 1 ready4change88 reacted to this
abefroman329 704 Posted March 2, 2018 Give it time, probably. You’d be surprised the difference just a week can make. 1 ready4change88 reacted to this
dthree123 3 Posted March 2, 2018 I have to stay on just Vitamin Water for another week?
sleeve21418 42 Posted March 2, 2018 I think it will pass. I had to take it a bite at a time at first. Had the same super full feeling. And make sure you really follow the no drinking 30 min before and after you eat. That makes a huge difference. I know it will get better for you. Hang in there! Just eat what you can for now. dthree123 3 Posted March 2, 2018 Thanks! It's not so much a full feeling, it's gurgling and spasms followed by an uncomfortable bathroom visit--like the symptoms of dumping syndrome. Im just surprised that it was only 2 tablespoons. Oh well, good thing I'm not hungry.
P2p 1 Posted March 2, 2018 I'm not suppose to start pureed foods until next week. The yogurt and Protein Shakes have helped. I did sneak in some pureed carrots. Bought baby food today.
Jene Jene 7 Posted March 2, 2018 I had the same issue with spasms and gurgling right after surgery. My physician prescribed hycosamine, which is an anti-spasmodic, and it seemed to help. 1 Sosewsue61 reacted to this
frust8 963 Posted March 3, 2018 Have you tried the clear Premier Protein flavors? Heard good things about them on here but they might be a tad sweet.Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app
dthree123 3 Posted March 3, 2018 What a difference a couple days makes. It's still not perfect, but I can have small amounts of Protein Shakes and a spoon or two of Greek yogurt. thanks for the support everyone!!
