Todd_196 40 Posted March 1, 2018 I’m still pre-op, waiting for all my paperwork to be gathered by the doc to submit to the insurance Company. It’s a stressful time for sure. Couple that with my naturally stressed nature, I’m really on edge. I’m trying to relax and take things as they come. It’s been easier said than done however. So how about you, pre or post op, no matter, what do you do to chill out? I’m assuming the gym is a big go to for everyone but what else do you do?

BigViffer 3,544 Posted March 1, 2018 Ladies - I know the topic probably just popped up in the New Post filter or Unread, but this question was posted in the Guy's Room. (Still wished this place was changed to The Humidor!) Todd - weightlifting is my major stress reliever. Then in the warmer months, motorcycle touring. The latter has become so much easier and more enjoyable since losing the 100-ish lbs. 1 Todd_196 reacted to this
kakatlady612 1,053 Posted March 1, 2018 You could from now on- "responding to post in_____forum". That way we don't trample any toes, otherwise we have no way of knowing ---especially if we aren't picking it up from the designated forum.Sent from my VS880PP using BariatricPal mobile app
soready17 167 Posted March 1, 2018 It show easily that it's the guys room..even if it's on my timeline. You ladies just like to comment on everything regardless lol... EVEN IF you quite possibly didn't see it as the "guys room"...his topic literally says "guys: what do you do to relieve stress?" J San 1,071 Posted June 1, 2018 My go to stress reliever for the past MANY years has been alcohol. Did the gym thing when I was younger but it was always kicking back with my boys throwing some back that always took the edge off. Well look at me now. More than 200 pounds over weight and a full fledged alcoholic. The past 3+ years have been the worse as I started having back issues which led me to not be able to work anymore and not provide an income for my family. More weight gain more pain and more drinking. This is the 1st year since I can remember that i'm not getting wasted every night. Not sure what finally flipped the switch but I don't want to die anymore. I still drink but I've come along way from what I was doing. Will completely stop soon, who knows maybe last week was my last. But know for sure if I do get approved for this surgery It is over. Hope to bring the gym back into my life and other activities that can be the new stress reliever.
abefroman329 704 Posted June 1, 2018 (edited) You think it's bad now, wait till everything has been submitted and you're waiting for the insurance company to make a decision! Fortunately I submitted all of my paperwork about a week before I went on vacation for two weeks, and by the time I got back, everything had been approved. So I highly recommend finding something to do during that period. Maybe build a ship in a bottle? Edited June 1, 2018 by abefroman329
BlueCrush 408 Posted June 1, 2018 For me: Weight lifting Video games Motorcycle riding Online poker Also, something I've always wanted to try is flinging lessons, but all the pilot lessons I've seen require you to be under 250 lb. I just got below that weight limit like 3 weeks ago, so it is on my list of things to do soon!
Matt Z 4,139 Posted June 6, 2018 (edited) The Gym has been a big one. Gaming, although this was more a great distraction POST op. I like Poker... I mean Poke Her... that's a great stress reliever Pretty much anything that will occupy your time and take your mind off your stresses is going to be good. Syntax_Attack 76 Posted June 8, 2018 I love working a heavy bag. That is a quick way to relieve stress year round. In the warmer months I will go down to the creek, go to an area where I can look around and see nothing but nature and do some fishing or swimming. I am itching to get back to it but I want my incisions to heal 100% for that and I still have some scabs on some of them. Video games are ok to but I am trying to do more active stuff.
