goldenbarbie 329 Posted March 1, 2018 Omg guys,So I have the flu this is my first time being sick EVER since I had surgery and I feel horrible. I’ve always had a weak immune system but this is ridiculous. Not complaining because I can’t eat (hopefully I’ll lose a good pound or two since I’ve been stalled for a while) but because I can barely even get in fluids!Everytime I try to sip orange juice, gatorade or even simple chicken noodle Soup I feel sick and throw up. I’ve been sipping Water which also gives me a hard time but it stays down. My body feels weak also.Had to cancel my appt with my surgeon for today because he’s 2 hours away I deff couldn’t take that drive feeling like this. Going to call him when the office opens and see what he says or suggest I do.In the mean time... Wondering if I should go to ER? What does anyone suggest? Has anyone had the flu affect them this deeply after being sleeved? Sleeve date was 12/14/
orionburn 1,024 Posted March 1, 2018 Going to the ER isn't going to do much other than them saying you have the flu, unfortunately. When did you actually start to feel sick and start having troubles getting fluids in? Dehydration is obviously the biggest concern. One or two bad days isn't going to kill you, but if you get really behind then a hospital stay could end up being needed just to get fluids in. Have you tried popsicles? Don't know if that would help or if it would make you feel sick like anything else is. Glad to hear you can at least keep some Water down. Sorry to hear...the flu sucks! Hope you get better soon. 2 goldenbarbie and RosieQueenofScots reacted to this

TexasMommy80 297 Posted March 1, 2018 I would definitely go to the ER. You don’t want to get dehydrated. Age: 37Height: 5’6BMI: 37SW: 241GW: 150-160MFP: Fit4LifeAR 2 goldenbarbie and Sosewsue61 reacted to this
James Marusek 5,244 Posted March 1, 2018 I am a big fan of herbal teas such as Breathe Easy. They seems to help me in the pasts when I had the flu. 2 Sosewsue61 and goldenbarbie reacted to this
Sosewsue61 3,185 Posted March 1, 2018 Hot tea with a touch of honey and lemon. A hot epsom salts bath, naps - lots of naps, more tea... Sorry you are sick. I just got over the flu, not as much puking as serious headache, dry cough, sore throat and exhaustion for two weeks straight. Take care of yourself. 1 goldenbarbie reacted to this

Dehydration is a legit worry so if it gets to that point definitely get your butt to the hospital to get checked out to be on the safe side. Hopefully you can keep enough Water down to not have to worry about getting to that point. 1 goldenbarbie reacted to this
kakatlady612 1,053 Posted March 1, 2018 And those Sosewsue61 are the classic flu symptoms, nausea and vomiting really aren't, they are more due to the GI renovations, now that tends to be the weakest link portion of your body. If necessary go,back,to your sugar free popsicles, you might be able to handle them better at this point. Remember the trick from when you had kids or were a kid yourself? Now this is mommy wisdom. Take a a paper cup, Styrofoam might work but I always used a paper Dixie cup. Stick the stick down through so you have a receptacle if it starts melting. I usually would put the whole affair in a Cereal bowl if they were slow eaters but then I hated sticky drips on the floor. The bowl isn't mandatory. And I always went for the light shades as opposed to grape or cherry. And a cool washcloth compress, helps with headaches, sore eyes, and worse case scenario you've got it ready to wipe off if you erp up. Love, prayers and feel better soon! James Marusek 5,244 Posted March 1, 2018 I use Traditional Medicinals brands called "Breathe Easy" and "Throat Coat". I generally buy them at Krogers, but many health food stores will carry them or similar brands. Since you mentioned having problems with immune functions, you might try "Echinacea Plus". 24 minutes ago, goldenbarbie said: Thank you, where did you get it? Walmart not Trader Joe’s had it.
