My day is almost here! Surgery is scheduled for 7:30 tomorrow morning. Not feeling nervous but I expect it'll kick in shortly. My bag is packed, and I'm about to get to bed cuz I have to be up at 3am. Check in is 6am, and the hospital is an hour drive. Wish me luck and I'll see you all on the other side!

Put in some lounge pants or jammie bottoms, you probably, won't,be able to wear the gown because of wires and,IV s in your arms. That way you can wear their snappy gowns and walk around without somebody singing Moon over Miami when you walk by.

PS best of,luck, hugs and prayers for you both!

I never had surgery before.. I prayed that anesthesia would not take me out. My surgeon said it's very rare anymore of anesthesia problems.. Your real journey begins AFTER the surgery.. soreness yess, pain, for me minimal, learning to eat the stuff they want you to eat...that can be a challenge in your second week. Just remember, fastfoods are poison, high Proteins, low carbs for the rest of your life and there are tons of delisious recipes out there that you will love! Good luck, may God help you every step of the way. Marvel at this websites recipes.. yummy!! http://www.trimmedandtoned.com/27-low-carb-high-protein-recipes-makes-fat-burning-easy/

Surgery went well for hubby and I. We were both very nauseous when we came out of sedation, and our mouths were drier than the dessert. But after a few hours, the nausea went away for the most part. The gas ain't no joke. Hubby hasn't had the pains but I feel like a baby is trying to karate chop it's way out of my belly. It's hard to breathe deeply but I'm doing my breathing exercises every waking hour. I've been up walking around quite a bit so I'm waiting for that to help. I've burped a few times but that's about it. Aunt Flow came to visit last night, and she's way now present then she normally is. It's kinda hard to take care of my female business due to the soreness. The surgical pain isn't THAT bad though. Nothing like a C-section at all. Far less painful. I basically feel like I did way too many crunches.

Tomorrow morning is my swallow test, and then they switch me to fill liquids and then I can go home.

My first words after waking up were "why did I do this to myself?" because I just felt so awful. But it was temporary, and I'm not regretting the surgery at this point.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
