Does anyone regret having this surgery? Be honest, if so and why? Just want to know what others are going through before I commit.

I am one month and 2 days post op. I have zero regrets. I feel perfectly normal except that I get full sooner. Its a miracle. no pain no side effects. I have lost 32 pounds and am not hungry.

No regrets, but there are certainly times when it can be annoying with changes. I have a beer every once in a great while but it's kind of all or nothing. Gone are the days of being able to even eat 6 wings and a drink a small glass of beer with the guys at B-dubs. Now it's half a glass and maybe 2 wings and that's it. I mean it's not the end of the world, and the pros have definitely outweighed the cons.

My only other real cons are the annoying loose skin. I'm older now, was overweight for a long time, and pretty much knew I was boned when it came to that. Oh well...there are worse tragedies in life but it's annoying.

The only regret I have is that I did not get this done sooner. I feel better than I have in a long time.

I regret being obese. I was miserable. physical activity was a struggle. My health was in decline. I missed out on activities and things in life due to my weight. I hated buying clothing in plus size stores.

I'm almost four years out..... Absolutely no regrets having surgery.

I have my health back. I'm in the best shape of my life. Eating healthy is still flavorful and just my normal life.

Enjoying life, having adventures and making up for lost time.

I have and never had any regrets. My life is fabulous and I wish I had done this long before I did.

I do sort of miss being able to chow down! Lol! I really think that's my mental hunger talking though, because even in the months before surgery I didn't eat that way. I have never eaten great big meals, but for some reason that's all I want to do right now. I'm only going into my third week after surgery though, so I'm still on liquids! I've been told it'll be easier when I can actually start eating food again! I am looking forward to just getting a bite or two of something and being done.

As a surgery noob, today is Day 8, I have "no regerts" other than as Doug said, not having it sooner. And as @jenn1 said...yeah, wish I hadn't eaten my way to super morbid obesity in the first place!!

This speculation on regrets is not serving you well - first of all if anyone had regrets it would serve no purpose as you cannot undo the surgery, second everyone's experience will vary so widely that again speculation only serves curiousity. So - if you are undecided this questioning will not be helpful to you. Statistics are in your favor that it is a safe surgery with only rare complications, and success is based on each person learning to live a sleeved life, and finding new ways to avoid emotional eating.

Your reassurance must come from inside you.

We want to cheer you on and applaud your successes, let you vent some frustrations, give tips on food stages but you need to work out your hesitations.

Having major surgery is a scary thing. I get how OP would want to hear you all say you DON'T have any regrets. It's exciting when I hear that as I wait for insurance approval and think a lot about this process.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
