3 weeks out , scale not moving

Recommended Posts

I’m 3 weeks post op and the scale has not moved in 10 days. I am eating 600-800 calories a day and I’m trying to walk 3.5 Miles 3x a week.

I’m drinking a Protein Shake every morning which is 30 gram of Protein and eating three small meals a day. Is there something I’m doing wrong ? Should I excercise more ?

My Water intake is about 48 oz

im afraid I’m not going to lose weight , what can I do to get the scale moving more?

What really counts is your measurements in my opinion, I bet they’re moving. Don’t worry about it, it’ll drop and remember you’re fresh out of surgery, your body is healing too. Classic 3 week stall....don’t stress.

Google three week stall. This happens to everyone. Focus on following your plan and continuing to change your relationship with food. The weight will come off in its own time.

Remember this journey is a marathon -- not a sprint.

Lol, oh if i had a nickel every time someone asked this question I could buy prime Super Bowl tickets!!!

'The Dreaded 3 Week Stall'...yep happens to nearly everyone. Your body just had major surgery, has inflammation and healing to do, and adjustments to low calorie consumption, etc. Be patient.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
