What's Your Goal For The Week?

Recommended Posts

My goal for this week... to get outside and walk on the three days that both wee-lings are in school. It's finally warming up here and I need to get outside. Also, to take Fluffy's sage advice and continue to lower my daily carb intake (and not screw up my day by snacking after dinner!).

I'm going to continue with my fluids at 120floz/day, Vitamins as prescribed daily, getting 60-74g daily Protein, keeping carbs around 25g net carbs, keeping fat 30g or less, and naturally occurring sugars <10g daily. And most of all, consistently weigh and log everything that goes down my piehole to have accountability.

I'm going to walk daily for 45min-1 hour.

I'm going to focus on the positive, the long term big picture, stay happy, motivated, and not sweat the small stuff!

I'm going to get outside as much as possible, and maybe work on planting some herbs and greens in my containers.

Work daily for 2 hours.

Keep house, post her often. :D

Since my gastritis is making me feel like what you have described after surgery I might as well practice setting good eating habits now. I am having trouble teaching myself to chew more each bite and swallow slower. I think I have been a bolter and fast eater. Maybe I should learn before I'm forced to post -surgery..

This week, since I accomplished all of last week's goals, I'm going to concentrate on not killing anyone as the 3 week stall continues. I'm trying to find my mellow happy place. I seem to have misplaced that damned thing...

Ok, so last week's goal sucked big time... the only thing I accomplished was to keep my carb count down (not Atkins or Keto level, but definitely lower for me) and gained 5lbs!!!! How the heck does that happen? (Question: am I the only one who doesn't record the bounces up on my ticker?) Seriously, the only bad thing I ate was some onion rings when the family went to A&W for lunch. I *know* it's Water and constipation... my fingers feel like sausages and I'm bloated like crazy.

I have an appointment at the bariatric clinic with my nurse tomorrow morning, which I'm not stoked about. I looked for any possible way I could legitimately cancel, but there's just nothing... and really I need to go. My program only allows 3 no-shows/re-scheduled appointments before they kick you to the curb, and I've already had one due to a completely brain dead moment, inputting the wrong time for an appointment on my calendar and I showed up way late.

So this week's goals... 1- go to this horrible-no-good weigh-in where I know my nurse is going to give me serious side-eye when I step on the scale. 2 - work out 4 days this week (already did 2!). 3 - keep working on lowering my carbs and upping my Protein.

Here's to a much better week...

My goal is to stay sane - which is no easy thing.

#1 My fridge has been out for a week - the part arrived today - I could write a book on the fridge thing, will keep ya posted on that. #2 OD has a new job and couldn't find her birth certificate, so I had to go to the courthouse and get one for her, scan it in my phone, and verify she is who she claims to be by edoc. #3 stupid lawyer forgot to issue 1099s for a property sale for my taxes, so I have to chase that down, plus go to a different courthouse for that property's documents. #4 my son finally said yes you can take the two grandgirls on vacation next week (just the girls live with me and mr sue - for THREE YEARS now, yes he has just left them here and I'm not going into that mess of an explanation, apparently I am responsible enough to take care of them for three years but I would be a risk for someone to kidnap them while on vacation WUT?) #5 Two month stall is seriously annoying and I am going to resort to dropping calories from 1100 back to 900 for a week, just to see what happens. #6 I have to alter/sew new square dance apparel because most of my stuff is too big now and a deadline is looming for Iowa SD Convention in April.

Forget it, no way to stay sane this week. Reboot.

Dang girlie! We all think we have no shoes til we meet the one who has no feet. Your load is GINORMOUS!!! ((hugs)) Just take it one stupid step at a time and treat yourself gently. Control what you can and let the other stuff roll off your back like a duck. Your grandbabies are lucky to have you and hubs and they WILL look back on this time with you and will always remember. You are impacting their future in ways you've no idea about right now!!! ((hugs))

The two month stall...well FU*K!!!!!! It just sucks sweetie! I feel and know something of your pain. I do love the idea of knocking back your cals to 900 for the week. It's still a lot of food if you choose wisely with it! And you know, sewing new duds sounds hard to me, but think how darling you will look in your new fancies!!! People will all call you Fancy! :D Go for it girl. Convention sounds like a great goal for you, you know!!!! And fun. Did I mention the fun part?

Hang in there sweetie!!! Saying prayers!

Hi Boston,

Thank you for this post. It was really encouraging to me since I was worried that I have only lost 5 lbs after six months of dietary visits required by my insurance. It looks like your surgery weight was only 6 lbs lighter than your starting weight. I assume I will drop some weight with the 2 week pre-surgery liquid diet, too.

What are your thoughts???

Thanks again!!!

To catch up on laundry, saw PCP on Tuesday, 4th antibiotic for sinus infection, maybe this one b will finally stop my drippy stuffy nose, I'm tired of blowing my nose and sounding like a goose honking. Now on top of that I have sciatica in my right leg and left leg slightly lymphedema flare up. Ain't life just ducky, still it is beating death all hollow. I'll get better, gray dismal day outside but a little warmer. Now if we can keep snow away, I'll be a little happier.[emoji27]

I agree! I was told I had to keep above a certain BMI to keep qualified for surgery so I only had to do a 3 -4 day liquid diet

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
