Cheating / random life questions

I cannot for the life of me understand why people think wls is cheating or the easy way out...

Also anything you thought you would finally do after surgery or at goal that no longer mattered when the time came?

I thought I would be juicing daily like I used to, now I can't afford the carbs... Maybe in maintenance mode

People that have never been obese need to shut it! lol

Some think we have surgery, eat anything we want, don't exercise and the weight magically comes off. We know how much work and dedication this takes.

Anything you thought I'd do after goal that no longer mattered? Things that no longer matter after goal ..I can't think of any.

I was more excited when I got to onederland than I was hitting goal. I had to ask myself...What do I do now. (happy and thankful to hit goal) It just wasn't what I had thought it would be. My bucket list has always mattered. I feel like I'm making up for lost time.

Cheating after goal. I think of it as indulging once in awhile. I live life. I don't feel I'm missing out on anything. If I gain, I work hard to get it off...Weight loss is at a snail's pace years out.

Flying coach has been...more comfortable, but not comfortable.

I've always said I could weigh 140 and still be uncomfortable in airline seats because my shoulders are so broad. i always have to keep my shoulders moved forward to avoid bumping people on my sides. I suppose my arms might rest a bit better if some of the fat surrounding my upper ribcage melts away after the sleeve is done, but I'm not optimistic.

Even at my heaviest I never had a problem flying coach, weird...

My aunt is a size 0-2 and can indulge in anything she wants to eat, anytime. She has the genetic advantage. So I bought myself a little surgical advantage.

People think that thin people look that way because they work hard and have good willpower. Sometimes that is the case. Often it is not. So there's this stigma with WLS that it's cheating because everyone wants to think they earned the right to be thin with their own hard work. Most of the time it's BS.

You are giving yourself an advantage so you don't have to struggle as hard. Now there will be new struggles, restriction, Vitamin deficiency, etc. You're choosing your new struggle, but no one waved a magic wand. Some people it won't be worth trying to convince. Just let them be and move along. Others will listen and their minds will be opened. Little by little, that stigma might subside, but it's not going away anytime soon.

My sides were still touching the armrests.

Yes, touching, as opposed to "spilling over" when I last flew coach in September, but still.

Anyone who says it's the easy way out is speaking from pure ignorance.

Everything is super exciting and new, everything is better, the only thing that I miss is gorging on food but I don't miss the guilt afterwards, the pain, the obesity and the early dying.

I do miss food! I can tolerate popcorn just fine. Probably just a kids pack at the movies, though.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
