Where are you located?
Food based items you can try are
Senna tea, chicory root drink (often called coffee alternative ), sugar alternatives (splenda, stevia), prune juice basically any laxative effect inducing food you can think of

Back in my youth, yeah I do remember back then ,my Mama made a little item called No Bake Cookies. It had oatmeal, Peanut Butter and butter and cocoa in a hot sugary base, dropped on a buttered cookie sheet and left to cool. Oh I loved them little critters and was known to Filch, them before they, cooled out. Only took 4 or 5 and then I'd be in the bathroom crying, because they went right through me. She might as well used exlax instead of cocoa from the misery I went through. Did I learn my lesson? Well not too good, I thought maybe it was a bad batch so I had to inspect them a few more times before it sunk n it. Now 1. I'm allergic to chocolate and 2, it would be the last thing needed on a bariatric diet but I remember it well. PS cooked oatmeal also has a laxative effect.

I didnt go until the 8th day and its was a rocky situation if you know what i mean, i would start stool softeners ASAP, I continued to take them daily for about 6 week until everything got back to normal so to speak.

Same here! I also have been taking Benefiber since, and it has made things normal.

Ugh I went about ten days after surgery. I got so desperate I drank mineral oil. Lots of people swear by miralax which can be mixed in with your clear liquids.

I use Miralax. Wow good for u on taking mineral oil. I heard that was really nasty.

It was not something I would want to drink on an everyday basis for sure. :P

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
