Hi peeps,

I'm wondering how everyone checks their weight? I've used the scale at rite aid and it's off about 20- 25 pounds(less) from the scale on my doctors office.

I try not to focus on the number as much as how I feel, but I like checking at least monthly and right now I'm only seeing my Dr every 3 months; any suggestions?

Thanks

I just use a regular bathroom scale. If you need something with a little higher capacity, I've seen 400 pound scales going for about $150.

You could see if your PCP minds you stopping in to check your weight.

They usually have good scales at reputable gyms, medical weight loss centers...even the YMCA.

Best wishes:)

There’s definitely variance between the scale at my primary’s office, the scale at the surgeon, and the scale at the dietitian. The latter two use those platform scales, my primary uses a smaller, bathroom-style one. Further complicating matters is the fact that primary takes off 2-3 pounds for clothing weight, depending on the season, and the others do not.

At home I use the Fitbit Alta, which I like because it uploads the data to my Fitbit app.

Hi,

Do you find your bathroom scale aligns with your Dr scale? I don't mind purchasing one for home, would just hate for it to say 200 and when I visit my Dr it says 220

Thanks maybe it's time I bite the bullet and purchase a fitbit

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
