Banded 3 months ago, nothing

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I guess I am just looking for some encouragement. I was banded on 7/31, and had my first fill 9/19. So far, I feel as though I should have gone for the gastric sleeve. I know that it takes a few fills to feel the effects of the band, but I am just really discouraged right now. I am going on 10/31 for the 2nd fill, and hope that I feel something but I am worried that it will take more than that. Will I ever feel the restriction??

I fight everyday to eat right, try to get my Protein and veggies, drink all my Water, but I do cheat with some bad things too. I can go hours without feeling hungry at all, but when I eat, I can EAT. Please remind me again how may fills people have had before it takes.

Ok, thanks for listening.

Lisa

Hi, Toriasmom,

How much of a fill did you get? When you go in for your second fill ask for them to increase the amount. They usually ask if you are feeling any restriction as they are doing the fill. Eventually you will get the right amount for your body. I have had 2 fills since my surgery in Mar, 07. At times I feel I am ready for my 3rd, but then there are days when I cannot eat much. Keep faith and hang in there. By the way what is a gastric sleeve?

Thanks and good luck,

Gina

Don't sweat it. I didn't get to my sweet spot until number 4. Believe me, when you start feeling restriction you are going to notice a change. Let your doctor know you felt exactly NOTHING. The whole Idea of going in for a fill is to get more put in. If he has a fouroscope, see if they can do the fill using that...it is a lot more exacting than the old "squirt and guess" because they can fill you to closing up initially and then start backing it off a little and should be able to get some change for you. The problem is that as you lose weight, each fill will relax a little. Much moreso at first, and a little less so as you get closer to goal. So at first, you are going to see the fill lose its punch fairly quick, and that will lessen with time.

Thanks for your responsed. I have 1cc in a 4 cc band. They put in 1 cc to begin with then go up by .5 cc each time, so Wed will be .5. I can't see how that little bit will make much of a difference. I guess I can ask for a bit more. I don't think they do any fills by flouro. Isn't that part of an X-Ray dept? I go to the office building to get it done rather than the hospital where X-Ray is.

The Gastric Sleeve is where they remove part of your stomach but don't have to "re-route" your intestines, like they do with the bipass. Basically your stomach, as a whole, is smaller, but works reguarly. (No malabsortion, no dumping syndrome)

Anyways,

Thanks to you guys!!!

Sometimes Doctors dont give agressive fills because making the $$ that they charge for the Fills is somthing that they want. Do they charge you for your fills? You should ask for an aggressive fill. See what he says. :(

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
