kaynga 4 Posted February 23, 2018 I was incredibly fortunate and my insurance approved me within four days, and my surgery (sleeve) was scheduled for March 14th due scheduling issues. I'm looking forward to it and I'm so grateful that I got this far. But...My pre-op diet is two weeks of Protein Shakes for Breakfast and lunch, and for dinner 3 oz of lean meat and veggies. I'm really scared I might mess it up somehow, or the cravings are going to make me constantly hangry(hungry/angry) or leave me with no energy. Does anyone have suggestions for the best way to get through this part? I know this is the start of the Real Hard Work, and I'm ready to take it on. I'm just nervous and looking for advice/reassurance. SW: 340CW: 306GW1: 180Surgery date: 3/14 1 Apple203 reacted to this
kaynga 4 Posted February 24, 2018 I was also curious how many people had to stop taking their daily meds for the pre-op diet. I take anti-depressants and occasional painkillers (not ibuprofen) for back pain, so I was wondering if either of those will be nixed as well.
AniracIre 17 Posted February 24, 2018 (edited) I'm just a little ahead of you in that I'm scheduled for March 6th and I started a similar pre op diet last Sunday. I did find the first 2 or 3 days tough and had to distract myself a few evenings to keep away from the fridge. I'd say my energy levels are back to normal now after the initial few days, but I think my concentration levels aren't great at times, so don't go making any big life decisions during this time as you may experience a little "brain fog"! I can't say that I have had a lot of cravings over the diet so far as you stay on a pretty even keel rather than the highs and lows of a high carb diet. The only negative so far is probably that the food is boring at the moment, but that's a very small issue when compared to the big and exciting changes that the surgery will bring Edited February 24, 2018 by Anirac Spelling
