I was only in hospital for 2 days so nothing really was needed. Biotene for dry mouth was only thing I wished for. Bring sweatpants so your walks are less awkward :). You won’t be able to put on a shirt bc of the tubes/ wires. hair elastic!

Lounge pants/sweat pants/PJ bottoms....are essential. Like Boston said...don't worry about the top or robes and stuff...cause you can't get them on over your IV.

Bring chapstick! Your lips will thank you.

I brought all my toiletries and makeup, hair dyer and stuff. They let me take a shower first thing the next morning...I put on street clothes, did hair and makeup....and convinced my doctor to let me go home:)

Phone cord/charger.

All I really used were chapstick, biotene mouth spray, a brush/comb, and phone and charger.

This ^^^.

I also brought a robe to sling around my shoulders and brought disposable (cheap) house slippers to slip on and toss at the end of my stay. The Biotene spray and chapstick were a lifesaver!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
