Are you asking if you're failing already (you have to answer that yourself)? How long did it take you to eat it? Are you eating other slider foods? What surgery did you have? Did you drink with your meal? Was it morning or evening? Was it a full moon?

Seriously...if you want people to take the time to answer a question put more than 5 seconds into a post. That isn't asking too much.

is that normal? I’m scared I might be eating too much

If you are eating more than your plan advised then you are eating too much. If a whole grilled cheese is not on your plan in terms of quantities or food items then you know the answer. You gave us no information on your plan .

How ever.
I am 7 months post and for ME not anyone else a whole grilled sandwich would be a stupid thing for me to do. And I couldn't even do it as it would hurt.

Exactly. We are supposed to answer a question out of thin air.

I ate a whole grilled cheese yesterday. It was terrific. Had some Tomato Soup, too.

Whole wheat bread with reduced fat cheese, and reduced sodium Soup. For like a total of 300 calories. Big whoop.

We're not birds. We do eventually eat again. Sensible, nutritious food.

Oh, and I'm less than four months out...and my doctor and nutritionist are 100% in approval of my lunch.

That said...my doctor and nutritionist wanted me eating 1000-1200 calories a day at 3 weeks...so schools of thought vary. I will say I've always felt like my doc has based his recommendations on empirical evidence supporting long term weight loss...rather than the fastest weight loss possible (though I admit, walking advertisements are a hell of a way to advertise your clinic).

I'm losing weight and doing well.

Horrors...

LOL:)

I can't eat bread (it makes me uncomfortably full), but I don't think you should worry. If it fit into your macros/goals for the day and your plan allows for it, I don't see any harm.

My plan allows a sandwich - I just can't eat them!! LOL! :)

What type of surgery did you have? food volume is a personal thing. How long did it take you to eat it? Did it take two separate time periods to get in? or all at the same time?

  • Do you log and track your food for the whole day?
  • Did the grilled cheese sandwich fit into your nutrition instructions/plan?
  • Did you stay with in your total calories?
  • Did you hit your Protein goal?
  • Did you go over your carbs?

If it fits into your macros and you are still in weight loss mode/ maintaining then congrats!

Instead of a grilled cheese sandwich, refuce the cheese and put deli meat on it for some Protein.< br>

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
