Revision Questions

Recommended Posts

I just passed my 3 anniversary since my gastric sleeve. I really wish I was posting my success. I had lost aa minimal amount of weight in the first 8 months, and have slowly gained back to just above my surgery day weight. I was told by my 1st clinic that I am that the 1% that doesn't lose.

Shortly after the sleeve I fell and damaged my knee and needed surgery. And then I had an icky gyn issue also needing surgery. Those problems put difficult barriers to being active.

In 2 weeks I am going for a revision consultation with a different surgeon. I now know that I was the 1st of only 15 sleeves my surgeon preformed and he is no longer practicing at that hospital.

I was hoping to hear about others who have spoken to a surgeon about revision options.

I was a lap-band patient for 12 years and had my band removed last June due to complications from the band. Now looking at revision surgery and was recommended to do the gastric sleeve. I've attended the sessions to review and my surgeon has done these for the past 8 years. Feel comfortable going this route. Wish me luck!

I had the lap-band (2006) and revised to SIPS just six days ago. I’m down ten lbs and glad to have that awful band out of me. So far, I’m glad that I made the decision to revise. There are others on here that are much further out and have had wonderful success, but they put the work into it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
