Veronica j 19 Posted February 19, 2018 Hi, I am done with six months appointment, yay! But am now facing insurance issues. I have had history of trying every diet under the sun including the bad drug Phentermine several times. My surgeon now says that I need five years history for my insurance bluecare to cover. Has anyone had this problem and if so what did you do? I am calling my primary doc today to see what kind of weight loss history I have but I'm scared I don't have the history that my insurance needs Sent from my Moto E (4) using BariatricPal mobile app
BeachBish 123 Posted February 19, 2018 I also had this for lap band. Go to ALL the doctors you've seen and get a copy of your records showing your weight, I only see a gyno and for bronchitis a few times. that was enough. Hope this helps.
Veronica j 19 Posted February 21, 2018 Beachbish, do you have bluecare as well? Also, does the insurance require five years of medically supervised weight loss or just history?Sent from my Moto E (4) using BariatricPal mobile app
VSG.02.05.18 23 Posted February 21, 2018 Every insurance company is different. It seems like they want five years worth of proof that you are morbidly obese. Can you gather all of your medical records from the last five years and have them resubmit the authorization request? 1 Veronica j reacted to this
Veronica j 19 Posted February 21, 2018 I have not been morbily obese for last five years, but overweight. I have, however been obese and with BMI of over 40 for probably at least a year. So I'm hoping it goes through! Sent from my Moto E (4) using BariatricPal mobile app
domi 237 Posted February 23, 2018 I wrote a letter that noted all of the different weight loss programs and diets I have tried over the years.
