Sleeve & Hh repair 02/15

Recommended Posts

I got sleeved a few days ago and now I cannot hold down anything. No Water or sugar free drinks or popsicles or broth and definitely not Protein. I am on about day 8 of Clear Liquids and still have until the 28th to be on clears. Does anyone have any tips on how I can stop throwing up every thing and get some strength back. I return to work in about 6 days but I dont think it would be safe given I have fainted upon standing twice now. Anyone else have these problems? Ugh

HW: 316

SW: 292

Surg. Weight: 248

You definitely need to call your surgeon if you haven’t already. Fainting is not normal and could be dangerous depending on what is causing it (could be severe nutritional deficiency, blood pressure etc - but not normal).

You should be able to hold down liquids, so want to get that checked out. Nausea meds could help, but you could have something else going on. If nothing else they can do an IV to get you back hydrated and that might help everything else.

I feel so weak and wobbly then out of nowhere I will be on the floor with my ears ringing. I am supposed to see him on Thursday and really dont want another ER bill. Today I have managed 8oz of mio Water, 2 oz of skim milk and 3oz of plain water. I have sit super still not to regurgitate everything. Is it possible this will just stop after the first week :(

Hate to tell you, but if you are passing out you at least need to call them and tell them. Likely you need to be at the ER. If its a blood pressure thing or certain nutrition deficits you could be risking your life... don’t mess around. I’ve come close to fainting a few times myself and my surgeon said if I did I needed to call immediately.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
