bronzemeatloaf 22 Posted February 19, 2018 Getting VSG in Seattle on 2/28 and then for spring break family is going to New York for the week. I’m excited to finally have the surgery but nervous that I’m going to be nothing but depressed in NY since I won’t be able to eat normally. I wouldn’t have planned it this way but succumbed to family pressure. I’ll get a lot of exercise walking around the city but looking for coping tips and concerned about what I’ll be able to eat. If I had a do over, I would not have planned it this way.
1/12/18~lulu 0 Posted February 19, 2018 Just plan on trying different Soups wherever you go. It’s not pizza and such but you will survive. Just think of enjoying soups since that’s what you can have. If worst comes to worst chew a piece of pizza and then put it in a napkin discreetly. It sounds gross but it’s how I coped during a huge family celebration where all my favorite meals were served. The next day I didn’t feel like I missed out and knew I was still getting healthier. I’m a native NYer you will survive just focus on the sights and the company. Just my two cents. Good luck

lindsayAK 100 Posted February 19, 2018 I had surgery 1/17 so I’m one month post op. I can eat pretty much anything just very small portions. You should not have to just eat Soup by that point in your recovery. I haven’t had any greasy food or anything like that but NYC has many options for you to choose from. I think you will do just fine!
