How long till incisions fade?

Recommended Posts

5 ish months here, mine haven't faded much, main incision is darker than the others. I don't really think of them much though, the weight loss has overshadowed any concern for the scars.

I’m not sure either. I bought some mederma to start putting on mine to see if it helps. I have heard it can take a year or so to see the actual end color of a scar.

Curious if anyone else has used this stuff on their little incisions.

Honestly, it depends on your body. Since I have a slight form of keloid skin, it will take over a year for mines to fade. However, palmers cocoa butter or Mederma will work with helping the scar fade.

I still have the small laparoscopic scar from having my tubes tied! That was over 10 years ago. I think it has everything to do with skin type. You can also buy vitiman E oil, which helps for healing damaged skin.

I’m using Mederma- and the little ones have faded but the main one is still purple too. Figure that’ll just take longer

4 months out here and they are light red and the bruise near the main one (from removing the stomach) is still faintly there too. But heck I figure in a year the plastic surgery scars will be a bigger concern anyway.

They will eventually disappear. I think mine were completely gone after a year or two.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
