Hey everyone just wondering...

When did you stop being scared that a stitch was gonna burst or is it just me? My surgeon keeps reminding me not to push it as they can pop (not that I would ever do something like that I’m still on the soft food stage one month out of ESG, but would love to hear if any of you felt the same !

Oh, I was terrified. If I ate too much I would get sick and be like, "I'm gonna die. I am greedy. This is what I get. My life is over and a lie" lol I am extra dramatic. It was not until maybe my 6th month, did I start to not worry as much. However, it is still something that concerns me when I eat too much.

Lol it so hard, I still don’t know what it feels like to be full I’m terrified to eat more than a few bites although sometime I still feel “hungry” idk, is there ever a chance of the stitches not popping or is this something we deal with forever my surgeon didn’t make it clear to me !

PinkMints, great question. I was very worried about stitches loosening or breaking, this lasted until my 6 week appointment following ESG. Had a good discussion with my Dr and he helped me to know that at that point "everything was solid" and the only occasion to worry about something breaking was in the case of vomiting. His simple rule was if you eat a food once and have a difficult time digesting it then just remember that and don't go back to eat that food again. I've only had one real issue with some sautéed mushrooms that I tried one evening when eating out. Too much oil/butter/garlic for me to take, so strike those from the menu.

Great to hear the experiences of others on this one.

My doc said the same-- 6 weeks everything should be good to go. Your stomach heals very quickly.

That being said, the first five weeks I was constantly worried about it lol. I think it's normal. You don't know what's going on in there!

I was pretty good till I started adding solid food. I found pork is not a good choice it take too long to digest and a salad isn’t the best for me. Avoiding those

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
