Hey everyone,

I was sleeved 1/30 and every time i look in the mirror, i still see the same fat girl. I look at myself and kinda see my face gotten slimmer but as far as my body it’s still the same fat.... i know they say it takes time to loose it and you shouldn’t compare yourself to other people but i honestly don’t feel or see that I’ve lost anything. I haven’t bought a scale because i don’t wanna be a scale junkie getting on everyday .... i have my 1st post op appointment tomorrow and i feel like I’m going to be disappointed. Has anyone felt this way??

Sounds like you have a little post-surgery depression. A lot of people feel like that, a little disillusioned and freaked out after surgery. All the changes can be scary. OMG, what have I done? OMG, what if I fail? I think everyone's been there a little.

The good news is that the hard part is behind you, and it just gets better from here!

Just work your program. Do your best, and believe in your success. It takes time, but you'll get there. Rome wasn't built in a day...we didn't get fat in a day...we won't lose it all in a day. Just gotta be patient. Baby steps. You'll get there!

Be patient...you may even experience this when you've lost a significant amount of weight. I've been through out and use a scale so I can see my results and when I stall. The stalls don't bother me...but getting used to the new body takes some adjustment sometimes.

VSG 10/11/17 HW = 360 SW = 292 CW = 226.8 GW = 220 (6'5")

It’s not even been three weeks! Give your body the time it needs to heal and follow your program and the changes will come for sure!

Hope you have a good follow up and feel more optimistic after.

The thing that most people on here seem to forget is that you should be making lifelong changes and looking at this transition as a marathon and not a sprint. It takes time. You will see it. You will be successful if you do what you are supposed to do.

Stop being in a hurry and devote yourself to changing your relationship with food. That is what will get you where you want to be.

Good luck!

The only way I can see my weight loss is if I put my before picture and my current picture side by side. Otherwise, I still see my fat body when I look in the mirror. Try comparing pics - it is an eye opener!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
