I had my band removed 11/29 and my sleeve done on 12/20. My dr recommends patients to wait 1 to 6 months for the revision. Life has been much better for me since being revised.

This is a topic that I can relate to, because I have a Lapband that slipped twice and now has a leak. It was a great tool and worked well for approximately 11 years, but the last 2 years have been a struggle. Since my band can no longer hold saline Fluid, I've regained the 135 pounds and a bit more of weight that I lost with my Lapband within the last 2 years!!! I was so frustrated and continued beating myself up until I realized that I can't control the fact that my band is leaking.

Since bariatric surgery is an exclusion in my medical insurance benefits, I've opted to go to Mexico for my revision surgery. I'm scheduled for revision surgery (Lapband to VSG) on April 4th. I'm quite nervous, but it's something that I feel I must do.

I know that there are many Lapband to Gastric Sleeve success stories & I just pray that I'm one of them.

Good luck to you

Bless you - You sure have had a struggle with the band.

Hopefully, this will be the new beginning and ticket for you. I've also checked into OCC - Dr. Ortiz... Is this where you are going? They quoted me a 6 night stay (Marriott) and revision - $9k total.

BeachBish, I'm actually scheduled for revision surgery with Dr. Jorge Maytorena at Longterm VSG/WLS. I chose this doctor because I have a few friends that had VSG surgery done by him and have had great results. The cost is 4500.00 for 4 days and 3 nights all of which are spent in the hospital.

Where is he located? This is to remove the band and to do the sleeve all i the same surgery?

It's located in Tijuana, Mexico. The hospital is Oasis of Hope, and it's all done in one surgery. He does have a website - Longtermvsg.com, an Instagram - longtermwls, and Facebook.

I had the revision done in one surgery. Had my lap and for 5 years and had many issues, mostly slipped and last time it slipped was advised to have it removed. Of course because of my insurance had to find a new Dr. But I did and she was wonderful. She did tell me that she would not know if she could do both at once until she was in there. Thankfully she was able to do both. I had the surgery in Sept 2016. In hospital for 2 full days, stayed out of work for 4 weeks as was able with my job. Down 55 lbs. starting weight 210 now 155. I would probably have lost more but I unfortunately do not exercise like I should. This is best thing I have done, feel so much better than I ever did with the band. Good luck

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
