lizaelle 2 Posted February 14, 2018 So I went to my info seminar after waiting 2 weeks and had to leave a few minutes later. Read the new patient form and learned there was a 750 dollar program fee. I have no way of affording that. I'm relying on my insurance to cover everything except the dietitian and maybe the psych eval but 750 dollars was too much. I feel discouraged but I'm not giving up yet. I want this too much. I called the next surgeon on my list of surgeons covered by my insurance and his dietitian charges 130 for the first visit and 100 for any other visits I'll have with them. This is more doable so I scheduled an appointment with him and the dietitian March 2nd. I want to know if the dietitian is the one you all went for your six months of supervised weight loss or did you see someone else? Also who had to pay for their psych eval and how much? Hi, don’t be discouraged, even though that was extremely discouraging, going through this process with insurance is discouraging in itself if you ask me lol with all of the crap we have to go through...but to answer your question, my insurance requires that the 6 months be done with your primary care physician, so check with your insurance and my surgeon’s office required 1 meeting with their dietician, which costed $60, and could also be counted as 1 of your 6 appointments, but I couldn’t use it because I had already seen my PCP by that time for my appointment of the month and you can’t use 2 appointments in the same month. As far as psych goes, my insurance requires an intake appointment, which I had last month, but there’s this test that some people take depending on your psychiatrist, and mine is one of the ones who requires that her bariatric patients take the test,so we submitted to insurance that day to request that they pay for it, and if they don’t then I WILL be finding a way to pay for it myself because I refuse to let anything stop me from having surgery, the cost of it though is a believe close to $200. The best thing to do is contact your insurance to get the specifics, or find the handbook online, that’s what I did. Also, the surgeon’s office should tell you in vivid detail EVERYTHING that you will need. My office even gives us a check list to mark off as we complete everything. 1 issawlsdoll reacted to this

I'm really hoping that's the case with my insurance. If I can go to my PCP for the supervised weight loss it'll help me a lot. I'm feeling less discouraged now, thank you ! 1 issawlsdoll reacted to this

LuellaJean 25 Posted February 15, 2018 My dietician is $50/visit for 6 visits (not covered by insurance). My psych eval is $400 (counts towards deductible) . My EGD is $700 (counts towards deductible). And my insurance deductible is $650. Co-insurance 10%. I'm expecting this whole thing to cost me $1500-2000 with my excellent health insurance. Amrivera2594 7 Posted February 15, 2018 I had to go to a dietician for 6 apts. I could do all 6 in 90 days and I only paid $5 for each apt. I also had to see my pcp once so another $5 copay and my over the phone phyc was $150. I then had to see my pcp for my pre op so another $5. My insurance will cover everything at 100%. All in all i paid $190 out of pocket. Every doctor is different as to what they charge and is insurance. Good luck. Keep going.
