Thank You! Any suggestions for the 2 week liqued diet pre op?

Take it one day at a time and try to drink as much Water as possible. Two weeks will fly right by. When you start to get too nervous, try and distract yourself with other things. You could check out Youtube videos and see how well others have done.

I am appreciative of everyone sharing their recent post surgery experiences. I feel more prepared for tomorrow. Thanks for the candid details.

I am suffering from allergies right now due to the 9.9 pollen levels here in Florida and feel pretty crappy. With the wild temperature swings I am scared I will end up sick and they will make me delay. And yes, I feel like I am having a pity party :(

Was sleeved on March 5th and this is the 1st time I've felt well enough to speak on the experience. I was in so much pain the first few days, drinking felt wierd (it still does) but I think things are manageable now that I'm home. Really starting to think I can do this, a long cry from the regret i was feeling in the hospital. I hope it gets better from here

BrandiLynn I'm in Ohio but I too suffer from allergies. In a few months I'll join you in miserable-land, right now I have been battling sinusitis so i definitely sympathize. Go blow your nose, try to put on a pretty smile and know we love you here on Bariatric Pal. And for gosh sakes get some Zyrtec or Clairitin.

Post surgery Constipation. Has this been a problem for you guys? At my pre-anesthesia appt, nurse suggested I start taking Senokot now, a week before surgery. I also know of one local bariatric practice that does the same thing. Anyone doing something similar?

Anyone else going through major caffeine withdrawals trying to prep for surgery? I'm day 7 of no caffeine and I still have headaches! Any tips?

my surgery is schedule for March 28th and I stopped coffee like a month ago, the first week was horrible with the headache, no matter what i drank to replace the coffee, but after that first week, chamomile tea with lemon and honey did the work, first thing in the morning, now I'm so used to it, that I don't feel like going back to coffee after surgery.

A lot of peop k scare using Miramax. I've used it myself, I got horrid Constipation from narcotic pain pills after my last knee replacement. Tasteless, I put mine in a bottle of Water and shook the snarf out of it to mix well. Drink it down as quickly as you can. I've known people who,put it in juice or coffee, okay I confess not many of my friends are weight loss patients but you perhaps could stir it into shake or clear Protein water? Anyhoo it works smooth and easy, and never griped me.

I'm not. I've not had a BM since before surgery on Tuesday. But I'm barely drinking 30ml of Water or broth every 15 minutes or so. The biggest thing I want to do is pass gas!!!!!

Glad you are starting to feel to better.

Brandi, I have been feeling the same way. Lots of pain here in hospital. I was sleeved on the 6th. It's getting easier each day, but I have some regrets. It sounds strange, but I didn't really comprehend that this is permanent. Not like the many diets we've all tried and could just go back to eating normal. This is forver. That's hard for me to swallow.

Expected pain/discomfort scale

Day of operation: Med-High pain. Discomfort is max

Day 2: Med pain, lots of gas issues. Discomfort is med-high

Day 3 discharge day: Low pain, Gas is still there, discomfort Medium

Day 4: Pain only happens with certain movement / sitting position. Gas decreased a lot due to pills, and Discomfort low.

Day 5: Basically outside the slightly sensitive wound area, and laughing causing pain.. No issues at all. Feel normal.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
