Capital Health Plan (CHP)

Recommended Posts

Hi all!

I’m new here. Had my psych eval and she recommended this app (plus all the YouTube videos I’ve seen as well).

I am wondering if anyone has CHP... I only have 2 visits with a nutritionist (last one is at the end of this month) and one psych meeting.

Met with a pulmonologist and he said he’s not testing me for sleep apnea because he sees no reason, since I don’t wake up tired.

Only major things left are my cardiologist appt and endoscopy.

At the start of this, January 4th, my BMI was 41. I had the flu pretty bad, plus the supervised diet, I’m now down to 39.28. I have no comorbidities... except GERD, I’m guessing.

Sorry for being long winded!! I don’t have anyone to really talk to about all of this here so just looking for someone with a similar experience :)

It wasn’t too bad. Met with my surgeon January 4th 2018 and had my surgery April 25th 2018. There’s no 6 month supervised diet. Had to meet with a nutritionist twice if I remember correctly. Also had to see a few more doctors to make sure I didn’t have sleep apnea or any heart/lung problems. My PCP also had to send my surgeon a letter recommending me for surgery.

Best of luck!!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
