bobt1 29 Posted February 11, 2018 I am pre-surgery looking at probably a mid-to-late March Sleeve. I know this is a question for my surgeon, but it seems all my questions these days are about medications and it will probably be another 2-3 weeks before I see the surgeon again. I see many on this site say they are approved to take the 81 mg aspirin. Anyone know why they say not to take enteric coated pills? It seems the coating would keep the aspirin intact through the stomach and minimize or eliminate the impact of this Nsaid on the stomach lining? I guess it's more of a curiosity question on the whole enteric thing? Thanks.
shedo82773 1,236 Posted February 11, 2018 I can't say anything about the coated aspirin but...I do have knowledge about what happens when I took aspirin. I was having some problems with heart palpitations and feeling like I was passing out, so my PCP had me start an aspirin 81mg's right away. H scheduled a stress test physically induced and then medication induced stress tests. All that time he had me taking the aspirin. He thought it was my heart but it was dehydration. I ended up getting an ulcer. I had to take this junk called CARAFATE it was not great tasting at all. Now none wanted to admit that it was the asiprin but I truley think it was caused from it. I only use Tylenol now. Even tho it is almost useless. But it took me so long to heal that ulcer I don't want to have to go thru that again. I'm sorry that I don't have an anwser about the coated ones. Have a great Sunday.
