Relocating to Arizona and I need some info...can you help?

Recommended Posts

Hi, my name is Grace and am excited that we are finalizing our decision to move to Arizona.

My daughter graduates in March and wants to go to Le Cordon Bleu school in Scottsdale.

I'm doing this by myself, as I'm a single parent.

Do any of you know some good housing areas...cheap/clean/quiet? I'm a renter and will be looking to buy after next Christmas.

Am retired military and own my own business so I don't need employment info. But I do have an 8th grader so I will need a good school district, or private school.

So any of you have any advice...please feel free to share. Even a doc I can go to for band adjustments.

Thanks.

Grace

Hi Grace!

We have something in common; I relocated to AZ from Salt Lake City last year. I love it here!

As far as housing goes, what do you consider cheap? Are you looking to rent an apartment or a house? Would you rather be in the city or out in the suburbs?

As far as school districts, Gilbert Unified is one of the best in the state. (That's part of the reason we moved here). There are others that are good as well... Chandler and Paradise Valley have good reputations.

I go to WLIAZ (Weight Loss Institute of Arizona) in Tempe and I've been very happy with the care that I have received. I have heard they do take new patients for fills, but I don't know the specifics.

Please let me know if you have any other questions. I'm always happy to help if I can. I know moving to a new area is a trying process, especially with kids.

You'll find that nobody really likes working on patients that come from other doctors. It's too much of a risk. In Arizona, I think that WLIAZ is what I would recommend. Their number is:

480-829-6100

There is another place that does them but I couldn't recommend them at all.

Thanks so much for your response. We frequently get patients that, according to them, have been turned away from other clinics that will not treat the complications of their bands and gastric bypasses. There was never a time that WLIAZ did not admit patients with bands implanted at a foreign or out of state clinic. Normally, it is encouraged that patients retain the clinic that did their procedure for their band fills if possible. It is a huge risk to take over another person’s work. I think that is what you are referring to in regards to the past. You are correct that a few people will do fills on bands of other doctors. I was too harsh in my comment.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
