Fear & scared

So I had gastric sleeve done in October lost a bit of weight but eating a lot of crap :( I am doing 30 minutes exercise a day. I want to join a gym but I can’t do it on my own. I would of liked to have my husband do it with me support and all that but he says the world is a gym. I go jogging every night but it’s not enough. What does everyone else do exercise wise ?

I workout at the gym and I do weightlifting, cardio, HIIT and anything else that I like doing. Honestly, you should go to the gym by yourself if you want to. Truthfully, no one is paying attention to you as they are focusing on their workouts. I used to have that same mindset but now I don't care.

Keep your motivation and maybe add some time and weights. I feel that strength training is key to seeing the weight and inches fall off!

If you want to join the gym please join the gym.

I know how hard it is to get the confidence to go but I promise you that no one will look down on you if that is your worry.

Prior to surgery a few years ago I got the courage to join a gym and after a few sessions I stopped caring altogether. I got lost in the exercise. People there know WHY you're at the gym and most of those people would only look at you with admiration for seeking to acheive those goals. And the ones who don't? Not worth your time.

Honestly, I understand how you feel. I was sooo scared going to the gym by myself at first. What I did was get a personal trainer... I worked with him once a week. Then, after a while, I started to feel more comfortable and able to go by myself. I'd at least inquire about the cost of a trainer at the gym you're thinking about joining. Mine was like $25 a session. I did it for a month, and I was good! I plan to get a trainer after surgery to help me build a little muscle

I under how you feel. I am just at the beginning of this new life journey. My husband and I joined our local YMCA . I am now going 6 days a week. My exercise program is to swim laps for 1 hour then do Water aerobics for the 2nd hour 5 times a week then I do 1 hour on a bike on day 6. I take 1 rest day. When I started I was 412 lbs. it has been 7 weeks and I am now down to 370lbs. along with exercise I follow the eating plan given to me by the WLC I go to. Everyone at the gym is there for 1 reason and that is to become healthier, lose weight or maintain . I have not been in a bathing suit for years but said screw it this is for me and I don’t care what anyone else is thinking. Join the gym you will feel better I promise.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
