Not feeling full post-op

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone!

I was sleeved earlier this week 2/05 and I’m feeling great. My doctor told me to start on puréed. The first few days it was hard to get liquid down because of gas pains. It’s better now and I had hummus as my first puréed item. Is it normal that I don’t feel full? I had about 3.2 oz of hummus. I know we are suppose to learn to feel comfortable, not full, but I guess I sort of assumed that with how small my stomach should be now, I would feel it more with that much? Will I maybe feel different from other foods or more solid foods later on? Wondering about your experiences immediately post-op.

Thanks 🙂

My surgery was 8 weeks ago. I do feel hunger and I do feel full when I eat, BUT hunger and fullness both feel completely different than they did before surgery. Give it some time. You are still learning what your new normal is. The way I know I'm full is I start to burp. Sometimes it's only a couple of bites in depending what I'm eating.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
